Anyone have a Picture of Pumpkin?
Here is a picture of Pumpkin that I took of her first bloom cycle. She bloomed almost as dark last year, but the first blooms this year were a bit lighter yet. I did not change the soil in the pot and she is probably a bit hungry even tho get does get fertilizer on a regular basis. I also have her in full sun this year, compared to partial sun last year.
That is a lovely orange! Thank you Shirley!
Neat! Wouldn't it be great if she was also blooming around Halloween?! She'd be great as a part of a fall display, or even to brighten up the yard any time of year.
Mary, she was a late bloomer when this picture was taken. The cool weather seems to have brought out her color. I think I'll move her back into the shade and see if she will give me some deep color, even in the heat.
Shirley beautiful.. love the color.. great picture..
I love those dark oranges. Shirley, Do you know which one is darker: Pumpkin, or Seminole Moon?
I'm sorry, but I've not seen Seminole Moon. Maybe someone else can make the comparison.
I think Seminole Moon is one of the Ludger varieties that seed sprout sells. It looks dark orange in the photos but I havent seen it in person. It is calling to me though LOL :P (buy me buy me -ahhh what can ya do?)
Open the wallet and buy, buy, buy!! LOL! I have 125 brugs this year, many are seedlings from Monika's crosses. I have to stop this craziness. If anyone has a cure..let me know.
If there was a cure my husband would have force-fed it to me, or maybe IV push!
LOL! Mine would like me to do something that doesn't require that he have plants in his shop all winter or plants in the family room. Wait until he sees me dragging the hibiscus into the house. He will with for those brugs in the shop and house again.
Shirley, What ever became of that crazy beautiful orange that Renee was growing out? Is it in trials?
I was thinking this one reminded me of it but it I remember right it was even darker??
It's still being trialed. Mine hasn't bloomed yet and I think there is some difference in color from one place to another. Can't wait to see what mine will do. It has one "growing" bud on it right now. It's been a bad year for brugs here. Too hot and dry.
Oh my thats pretty! Thank you for posting those

Brugie, that is one lovely brug...love the orange color..Judy
Brugie, 125 varieties!! Wow you need help lol. I can see you are going to be a good influence ha! Do you keep all your brugs and hibiscus in pots or plant them in the ground and move in for the winter?
I don't know how many diff. ones I have now but I keep adding a few more every week or so.....Last year my daughter counted about 200 pots so who knows by now. They aren't all brugs but mostly tropicals. I get rid of some and then go get more. It is a pot ghetto out there!
I keep telling my dh to build me a greenhouse and I will keep the tropicals out of his garage. I think he is getting close to caving in now. Last winter it froze here (which is quite untypical) and he couldn't even get into his garage or shop. Then I went and spilled the fish fertilizer in there and boy was he mad!!! :D It stunk for about a month. The only thing he likes/claims is his, is the Aztec Gold plumeria cuz it smells like peaches. Course he doesnt take care of it and only notices it when its blooming.
I am so glad to see that there are other new oranges out there. Mountain Harvest is a beauty.
I put a few of last years or just older trees in the flower beds. All others that I held over will be in pots and the seedlings are in a place in the garden. Three rows of them this year and they are competing with the weeds for moisture. This is going to be my last big year growing brugs. They are just too much work. I'll grow the special ones, but the more common ones will have to go. Many of the seedlings won't be kept either. As they bloom, I'll make some serious decisions about them. Monika will help me.
