My son just pulled up a 5' tall "weed" (not in garden, but at edge of creek) and immediately felt a terrible stinging pain.
He developed white bumps like mosquito bites . They continue to be very painful and burning.
The plant has three large rounded leaves in clumps with a thick stalk. THis is not poison ivy, oak or sumac.
I can upload a picture later if needed.
Does anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

I hope it helps.

Yes, I love the flowers, they look and smell like Stephanotis, very expensive flowers used in bridal bouquets.
yes but with the "stickers" on bull nettles, wouldn't he have let go pretty quick?
I m sure, I am just venturing a guess, it may not have been this one.
Did you say you had pictures?
A photo would really help. In looking up 'stinging nettles', I discovered that the 3 Urticas will grow alongside water and get as tall as 6+ feet. So they are a possibility.
