In Coaldale, Alberta, there is a Birds of Prey Center. They rescue and rehabilitate injured or sick birds of prey, and release them back into the wild when they are well. If, for some reason, a bird can't be released back into the wild, they are tamed for education shows and for people to handle. It is a really fun place to visit, and whenever we take a trip to Lethbridge, we always stop in at the Center on our way home to see the new birds and to leave a donation.
Here is an American Kestrel. I've seen these around our house, but never up close. It was a thrill to see all their colors!
My trip to the Birds of Prey Center
My favorite! A golden eagle named Golden Boy. Yes, named after the shirt on Seinfeld! LOL
Golden Boy won't be released back into the wild because he was found shot in the head and is blind in one eye and can't hunt for himself. The girl hand-fed him in front of us, and you could see just how much trouble he was having finding the food. Poor bird!
Very nice pics!
Yes, I enjoyed all of your excellent photos! :)
Sounds like a very nice time. Your pics are great!
Lady_Eagle, wonderful photos!!!
Wonderful, Lady_Eagle! Wow, what a treat! The Saw Whet and Burrowing Owls are so cute! The Great Grey Owls scare me, though. They're creepy looking, lol. Poor Golden Boy. I'm glad he made it to the rehab center.
~Kristy... bird lady, lol
Thanks, everyone! :)
