Musa Siam Ruby!!!

Louisville, KY

Well I have been growing out many of my Siam Ruby bananas. Their seems to be 5 distinct different forms. I thought I would share the pics I took this week.

This first pic is what I call the variegated Siam Ruby. The leaves are usually half red and half neon green color. It seems to be fairly stable much like any other variegated plant. I have found these to be fairly rare to find out of all I have grown.

Here is a picture of the regular Siam Ruby form. The leaves are usually dark red in color with small spots of lime yellow.

Here is a pic of the whole normal siam ruby growing.

This neon green or lime colored form seems to be a mutation or form of the Siam Ruby. From what I can tell it will keep this coloration and can slightly burn in full sun.

Out of all I have grown I have only found two forms that look like this. They seem to be extremely fuzzy looking with small streaks of red over the whole leaf. So far all forms have shown to be stable.

Last but not least is this form which I have only found 1 of. It produces what looks to be solid red leaves only a few slight blotches but the new leaves have shown to have non at all. I consider this form the rarest to find so far.

Enjoy the photos this have been one of the most amazing bananas I have grown. I have had only one problem with it and that is keeping the drool off the leaves. :>)
