katrun,
I have some hostas, but I don't have any blue ones at this time. I have a green w/ gold edged aureo - that gets pretty big, August Moon, golden tiara, and gold standard
Sorry , I did not get back sooner. I went out of town and my computer crashed. Thank god for my laptop. So Please do not email me yet, send D-mails.
Trioucanna- Well I really wanted Blue Hosta. But it dosent look good! I have not had a chance to look up your hosta. As long as they are the Big Leaf ones that would be fine. What are you looking for? I do have tons of Hostas with no names, so I will look to make sure I dont have yours aswell. Are they as big as the Sum & Substance? I wanted kinds like those.
Thank you- Kathryn
Kathryn, I don't have any of the giant hostas for trading, but have you tried the hosta forum? There are some extremely helpful folks over there. If you change your mind about the smaller ones, just let me know ;)
Tropicanna,
I did not even think about the Host a fourm. It did not even cross my mind!!
I think I will give that a try. I thank you again for your offer, also I will get back with you if I can not get my Hostas,
Thanks Tropicanna- Kathryn :)
Kathryn, I think you do have the same one. Do you know the name of it? When I got it, it was just labelled hosta. I've been trying to figure out it's name for a while..
Sorry, I do not know the name. I picked up like 6 of them on the way home from a Nusery A few years back and the guy gave me 2 free!
At the time I was not interested in Hostas. So I did not save the name. LOL!
I just moved 2 other ones that size and divded them. I also have a few other Hostas that look quite similar to the ones above.
Kathryn, I just noticed that you live in Alexandria. I used to live there too.. I lived at Montabello.. The gianormous gated complex on the hill right on the right off off Rt1 right after getting off the beltway.. Gee I miss VA..
Well, sorry about that. I also toss my labels but now, I'm into gardening, I hold on to them.. I just mix them up now instead.. lol
But I do think you're right .. My hosta does look just like yours..
It is a rather bad time of the year to divide blue hosta. (well any hosta for that matter) They just do not like to transplant and mail right now. Also as Blue hosta can take a long time to grow big often we hosta lovers don't want to divide them. I will include a picture of Blue Angel that you may want to go out and buy. If you do end up buying I would recommend Hallson's mail order for excellent quality.

There is a virus hosta may have called HVX. You can go to hostalibrary.org and read more about it.

Thank you for reminding me about the Hosta Library. I have been on the site before.
Actually I did go and buy just one Blue Hosta today. I almost bought the Blue Angel. I choose this one instead.
They were all 35% off!
I will go back and get more next week!
I have divided my Hosta and moved them all the time. I have never had a problem . As long as you keep them nice and moist after planting.(atleast in my area). Here is a picture of this Blue Hosta I purchased . I like it alot.
Its called:
" Tok Aureoneblosa" How do u say that again????
Icosden- Yes, You (were) right down the street from me!! I am just off of Rt!. 1 mile from George Washingtons House
(MT.Vernon) . They are building up Rt.1, since the BRACK- all the military people moving here. I Like it here. Nice Neighborhood. Except Housing is too expensive here. Yes, I have never been in the Montabllo but it is the nice one.
You wont miss it that much when u see how much your place is going for now! LOL!
Kathryn.. lol.. We moved because they were going to re-do Rt1. We made like a bandit when we left so it's pretty good.. I wanted to move to Fairfax at the time but DH wanted to moved back to NY. Guess who won.. :)
If you ever find out the name of your hosta, please let me know. Likewise, if I find out, I'll let you know too..

katrun: I have no idea of what it may be, but watch how it flowers, take pictures of it then and then post them with close ups of leaves, say by a ruler, on the hosta forum, there are some real experts (of which I am not) that view that forum. They usually can help with that. I know they have helped me loads of times with questions.
I am sorry if I sounded negative. I just have so much heat here the thought of dividing a hosta, well it just could not be good for it!!!
Dove by design,- No you did not sound negative.I have always moved my Hostas. Thats the one plant that I can dig and move that has done well for me here. In my shade garden.
Good News! My girl friend came over and brought me 5 Huge XL Blue Hostas for me.!! 2 different kinds! Looks like things are working out!.
That sounds great!!! I hope you post pics when you get them planted!!! I love th eblue hosta!
