Strange but I love it "Untamed Heart"

A new one for me and always loaded with blooms. "Untamed Heart"

Pretty! Interesting shape too :-)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

It is sort of smoky and mysterious; I lke it.

The blooms are always oddly shaped, I guess this is where the untamed came from and about 6" in diameter. It blooms a deep burgandy in color and then lightens a little.

That is really pretty.

Nice. I think I must have one. Time to do a search.

The name is almost better than the bloom. LOL

*sigh*

Okay - can you please tell me where I might find this beauty??? I am smitten, and a search brought me info about someone whose favorite movie is Untamed heart starring Christian Slater and whose favorite flower happens to be a hibiscus. But no "Untamed Heart Hibiscus". LOL. Gotta love Google.

This is one of Dupont's creations. When I was there Tuesday I was suprised to see that there were very few available. 80% of them were full of buds and blooms so they are prolific bloomers.

So which did you buy Robert, on Tuesday? Tell me in detail so I can be even more jealous. LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL Kell.

I am so fickle; I am thinking of giving my DIL a couple of my hibiscus for their new home in FL. That way I can buy new varieties, like Untamed Heart, for me!!!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Me too Alice. I am so fickle. I am true blue to no plant. I always think of that song Love the One You’re With. I swear I could be be looking at varieties of poison oak and if it had pretty flowers or great foliage ore ven just so interesting and was also grown well, I would be belly up to it in admiration and desire. Pathetic.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Too bad we live so far away, we could exchange our hibiscus annually and it would seem like they were new. LOL

Definitely giving the kids Tarantella, Phil hates the 10" flowers - says they look unnatural - he is just not into gaud.

Hi Kell,

I did not get anything new for myself :-( It seems the ones that I really want for my collection are not available yet. I did see some interesting up-coming blooms. They had about 1500 seedlings that they were evaluating and choosing for new blooms. I have a show to sell at in August and needed to pick up enough to take care of it. I will be going back the 3rd week in august so maybe I can get a couple of newbies then ;-) by the way have you ever seen a whirligig hibi? I bought one from david sight unseen and it is killing me with anticipation to see a bloom. I have done searches and can only find a throat pic.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So you got to see 1500 new and different blooms? What sheer fun that would be. I would have to wear a huge raincoat with huge pockets for any of their rejects. LOL

Do they sell their rejects?

No. I haven't seen it so you need to post a picture of your first bloom.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Yes, seconding Kell's comments - definitely a large pocketed coat would be in order.

I haven't seen whirigig either, but definitely want to as soon as it blooms!

Whirligig hib. picture. http://www.hibiscusplace.com/html/w-x-y-z.html#whirl Pretty.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Very pretty with a cool throat.

On Martindal'es home page there is a picture of a salmon colored hibbie with a anole in the middle. It is only a partial view of the flower but I love the color and the white throat. Does anyone now which variety that one is?
