Moving plants

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Can you dig up and move a watermelon and/or squash plant? I have some growing in an area I thought had full sun (well, it did in the Spring!), but they are only getting a few hours a day, and though wonderfully healthy, at the rate they are growing, there's no way they will even flower before first frost.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I definitely would not advise it. They don't like having their roots disturbed .

Ok, thanks. Wasn't sure which was the lesser of the evils!

If they won't flower where they are, do you have anything to lose by trying to move them? Unless you're enjoying them for their foliage....

Here's a picture of the Sugar Baby, direct seeded on June 18th. Based on their eta, I should be "expecting" in mid-September. Doesn't look very likely!

The Queen Anne's planted out the same day aren't doing much better.
