I have a large (14 inch) bowl-type planter that I am planning on putting 9 different varieties of episcia in. I plan to use LFS around the edges to help with humidity, but I suspect that they will need something more than that.
Any ideas/suggestions of what I can use as a dome for the planter?
Thanks in advance...
Karen
Ideas/recommendations for a bowl dome
You can either use a piece of cut saran wrap...............that works well.................also, go to a website called .......I have to find all of begoniacrazii threads about this...........I even ordered some............they are for the restaurant supplies..............put two half circle clear plastic big salad bowls together.............drill a hole in the top part and add a little porcelain or wood knob...............let me see if i can find her threads.
Oh thanks Gail! The clear salad bowl thing sounds promising!

You are most welcome!!!!!!!!!!
ms rose-did you find your dome for the terranium? i am thinking of making my first terranium and a large half circle dome is what gave me the idea--i guess i will need to read up on terraniums now!
I gave up trying to do it by the method above. I do have a couple of pots that I have used the fish bowl type glass bowls that you can find in Wal-Mart, etc... and I invert them over the pot to make an instant terrarium. It's cheap and works great!
ok--by the way i am coming to fredericksburg in july--my daughter lives there
Oh wow! Cool!
