Shooting Stars Mulitflora

Bath, ME(Zone 5b)

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been back. I've been under the weather with a summer cold. My multiflora is having problems. It bloomed and was beautiful, but now the leaves are turning yellow. I lost one earlier to this same problem. I am on city water and there is chlorine in it as well as flouride. Could this be the problem?

Hi Martha,

Just wondering if you let the water sit out overnight before using it. I also use "city" water (NYC), but I let it sit out for a day or two before using it so that most of that "bad" stuff evaporates. Also, are you watering the multiflora enough? They are thirsty little guys, and mine seems to like to stay on the moist side.

Yes...could be the problem...but as Gabi says, they do like lots of water!!! Try looking under the leaves for mites and other critters.... they are magnates....

And grab a couple cuttings for insurance! You might want to check out the roots. Most of the time, when one of my plants starts declining, root rot is to blame. It is worth a look see!

Thank you Gabi,

As usual I didn't look before I leaped! What you said sounds exactly what I need to do. The only other Hoya I have is one of the types which can stand neglect. I picked up one of the cheap moisture level meters and I think I haven't been keeping the moisture level where it should be. I noticed the leaves aren't as thick as well. Thanks again.

Martha
