I bought a Namwah banana (dwarf dessert type) about 3-4 years ago and put in on the side of my house. Nothing the first year. Second year, it produced 2 pups. 1 I left with Mom plant and one went to cyberageous. Third year nothing from either of them. Lo and behold, I went out this am and ventured to that side of the house I don't visit much other than to prune back occasionally and get what Momma plant has. Yep, the start of a fruit stalk. Perhaps baby will fruit this year also. I notice they a total of 4 new pups coming up too so I will need to dig them up and move them to the back yard as I want some dwarf nanners back there too. Can't wait to see what fruit it produces.
Does anyone else grow the Namwah for comparison?
Namwah Banana
That is awesome. I would love to see your photos when you get a flower going. I have Double Mahoi, Dwf. Cavendish, Super Dwf. Cavendish, Zebrina, and Chiquita bananas all growing in pots. Many have pups and some are 2 yrs old now and some are 3 yrs. The zebrina and super dwf prob wont fruit but I'm hoping the others will someday... lol. When I lived down south I got Double Mahoi to fruit in a huge laundry tub.
