Maya Varigated

Mulberry, FL

My birthday present bought in South Fla. Has pink edges on leaves and pinkish tint on stems. Maya is supposed to be mostly white leaves. I am talking to the seller about this this is far from mostly white on leaves. Does any one have one of these Maya varigated #2 thanks Dana

Dana, I think that is stunning. Variegated leaves change a bit with each leaf and are not uniform. You will, no doubt, have some with more white than others. My variegated ones are different and have a lot of yellow in them. I think yours is gorgeous.

I have a couple of different ones, but the variegated "Marble" from Thailand that my friend sent me has yellow flowers. This pic is not mine but was posted somewhere on the forums.

BTW--the color on Maya when it is young is lighter like your pic. Here is Anyamani--hope this helps.

Brad, I could be wrong, but hers looks more like Anyamani to me because hers has no yellow tint like in your first pic. She has that pink tint too. It's hard to tell though because the picture is blurry. Both are gorgeous though.

Dana, Robert has a Thai connection and is in Davie, I think.

Here is my other one. It "nubbed" in the greenhouse this past winter so I have three branches now. It is about two years old, I think.

Vossner--My own Anyamani is still young as I only got her back in April. At that time she was probably 3 months grafted, maybe?? She is smaller than my Maya which grows much fast for some reason.

Clare, the Maya is lighter in color when small, from my experience. My Maya is now almost 2 feet tall and has darkened quite a bit and developed the lovely yellow and green nicely. Anyamani sometimes called Unyamani, has that yellowish white and dark green early on and the only diffrence is as it gets older, there is more of it. LOL

These plants are impossible to keep in stock as the demand is so high, The plants coming from Thailand are getting smaller and smaller it seems(not always height either--sometimes very thin grafts, because that is all that is available---younger ones now due to such high demand. The prices have gone up a bit too. It seems as soon as they come in-- they are out the door again-- except for the very few selected for EBay. I know Luc at FCN has also has a hard time keeping them in stock--he says the "sell like hot-cakes"--a true metaphor for sure. They are lovely plants indeed.

PS--I noticed you said Maya #2--hmmm could be different as mine is simply Maya and I think the #1 original. There are a few more newer versions.

That is very interesting, Brad. I see what you mean about 'Maya.' I don't know what my big one is called, but I think my small one is called 'Marble.' I'm not surprised that these are so in demand. They are so beautiful.
