CLOSED: need pomegranate cuttings

Hooks, TX

If you have a pomegranate bush and would be willing to share a few 10" cuttings, I would be ever grateful. Maybe we could trade - I have a few things extra that I could send, or I might buy something you need and send it.

Thanks for considering this request,

Louise

I have pomegranate seedlings (planted this spring) that are branching and 12 - 15" tall. What do you have to trade? I'm looking for any kind of passion vine, but am open to ideas. thanks, julie

Tx Lou: If your trade doesnt go thru dmail me cuz I do have some cuttings that are rooted I would gladly trade for your Bird of paradise. LMK

p.s. hows the rain in your area? its' been pretty helpful here with all the plants I have but the problem it's causing with ants and mosquitos is killing me

Hooks, TX

Anaid,
We have had a deluge of rain almost every day for two months except this past week - a few days of sunshine between showers. I'm ready for a break in the moisture. How do people in Florida and Hawaii garden - I hear that it rains most every day there? I do have ant and mosquito problems too.

I have 12 of the Bird of Paradise seedlings that I took out of the 6-packs that I planted them in and bumped them up to a long planter with MG soil this afternoon. I can trade a few of them now and hope they would arrive alive if sent priority mail. LMK. Our local gardening center has a 12" potted one that is 5-6' tall with 8-10 blooms bigger than my fist and the price is $39.95.

Louise,
I have my regular Pom in a very large black pot ( like the ones for trees) and I have a dwarf one in a smaller pot. (dont know if the dwarf is in the plant or the fruit????) I can get a Pom ready for your tomorrow (Mon) and mail it out on Tues-priority of course. How big are the seedlings? (big I hope) The Pom is a good 2ft. I was reading that Bop could be invasive if allowed to. What's been your experience with them? I generally grow things in pots so have a better control of how they spread. Send me your addy and I will get your new Pom to you. Mine is listed below:

The plants in your picture are roses, aren't they?
I checked the plant files and pomegranate leaves
are long, slender and have smooth edges. Do you have
a picture of the plant that you have for trade?

I will post a picture tomorrow of the BoP seedlings
that I have. They are only about 6" tall. You may
want to wait until they grow taller to decide for the trade.
I only had one plant last year and it was almost 3' tall and
was just beginning to bloom when we had our first freeze.
It was in the ground and froze. I have mine in a large pot
this year, and also the ones in the long planter. Last year was
my first year to grow them so I don't know whether they are
invasive or not. I think you could cut the blooms off after they
fade and there wouldn't be any seed form.

Yes those are my mini roses with my Garden Guard (my fav pic). I will try to take a pic tomorrow of the momma plant so u can see it (and the rooted cuttings)

What an adorable guard!!!!!
I'll post a picture tomorrow of my 'guard'. He's a 30" tall roadrunner made from railroad spikes. He is due for a paint job this summer so excuse the drab color.
All the pictures in the plant files are of dwarf pomegranates. I didn't realize that there were two kinds. The plant I had years ago when my kids were small was a large bush with lots of fruit. That was in the 1950's.

Anaid,
This is a picture of my 'guard'. It was a gift from a music teacher friend of mine. Her husband made it from old railroad spikes. It is in bad need of a new paint job which I will do soon, I hope.
The next post will be one of the bird of paradise plants that I have.

You two can go ahead with your trade. Anaid's cutting will probably produce more quickly for you than my seedling. Have fun sharing, and TexasLou, if you still want to trade for a seedling, LMK. love, julie

This is the momma of the regular one. As you can see Im trying to form it into a tree instead of a bush.

julie,
I would like to do more than just one trade because my daughter wants a plant also. Was there anything in my list above that you might want for a trade? I don't have the passion vine but can look around for one. It might take a few days.

Anaid,
Are a few of the B of P seedlings alright, or wait for them to grow some more, or name a plant that I can look for to send to you instead. Your dwarf plant looks fine to me.
I also have lots of rosemary, multiplying onions, gardenia cuttings, rock rose, maybe a few brug cuttings. Lmk,

Louise

Anaid,
I noticed on another forum that you had mixed four-o-clock seeds. I surely would love to have a few if you have enough to send.
Was there anything else from my posts above that you would like to include in your box. It is already addressed and waiting to be filled in the morning.

Thanks for the trade,
Louise
