Lovely! Mine have opened, too! I got the first blooms last week. Mine have been in the ground for quite a few years and have made a huge clump. Dug some up for a trade and had one bulb bigger than 2 grapefruit! That one did NOT get mailed...Gave to a local DGer.

tggfisk,
Do you mulch yours to make it thru the winter months,or let it go cold turkey and survive on it's own?
Mine has made it a couple years now,but the winters have been mild,it has not seen a hard winter as of yet,has yours?

We are a bit warmer here, but mine goes through the winter without any help. The tops get 'mushy' but that doesn't seem to hurt the bulbs at all. I end up cutting the mushy stuff off in the spring.
It's been through some pretty tough stuff. We've had several winters of ice storms and snow. As of yet, nothing has seemed to affect it much.
I don't see how mulching it would hurt at all, though.

Thanks,I'll keep mulching it.

Looks the same to me!
Is this in the ground?

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

No, I got it at the RU in may, and put it in a large pot.I never have a bloom from those in the ground.I would love to know what I do wrong, since this is the first crinium I have ever had bloom. Now all mine are in pots, and are looking better.Mike

I really amend my soil with composted leaves and other fruits and vegetable clippings and work in lots of sand, they need really good drainage, full sun, mine is still blooming and at the same time sending up another stalk of flower buds!!!
