Where should I look for begonias in Houston? Thanks, Liz, Austin
begonias in houston
bonnie's greenhouse in Waco, Texas (will soon have a website of all her plants)
toll free number 1-888-799-8202
email bonnied@flash.net
Sells canes $4.00 each (plants, not just rooted cuttings)
Email her for a total list of canes if you're interested
She probably has other types but I was just interested in canes.
Hope this helps,
Susan
thanks so much! I love Bonnie's! It's a hometown type center, with lots of customer service. It's the kind of nursery I'd like to own! Liz
If you are coming a lil more south of Houston, about 1 1/2 or so drive, then I really recommend Maas Nursery in Seabrook. They usually have tons of hanging baskets begonias and some in smaller pots, too. They also have a lot of unusual plants . It's a great place to shop, but bring plenty of $$ because they aren't cheap.
The Brookwood Community in Brookshire about a 45 minute drive from Houston on I10 West used to have soooo many cultivars of begonias...........I worked there ...............we had to have had at least 20 cultivars of cane begonias plus 'richmondensis' nd many more..........you might make a call to the greenhouse before going out there but it is a wonderful place to plant shop anyway................
There are a few placed you could go to that carry them, not alot, but some and not all year either. But I think they still have some. If you are going to Houston I'm on your way in Cypress, Texas right on 290 and Telge. If you are coming I would love taking you around to all the places I know. It will give me an excuse to buy some more begonias. LOL! D-mail me so I can give you my phone number and address.
