Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

I went to the New England Daylily Show today at Tower Hill.
These pictures are from the gardens and the show.
First are some of the lilies in bloom in the gardens.

I love them all - but my favourites are Cedar Waxwing and Not Forgotten . . wait, I like Heavenly Harp too, and Chorus Line, and Orange Velvet and . . . oh, I can't pick! I like them all.

Good thing I didn't go - I'd be broke if any were for sale :-)

The orange and yellow one at the front is gorgeous! I understand that some of these daylilies can be VERY expensive ($400 a plant!)

Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

It was very well attended

I took a lot more pictures, in fact my batteries went dead.
One final shoot - Mahogany Magic.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

No I didn't have anything to enter, but I'm sure I would have placed in the "prettiest person at the show" group!

Looks like a great time. Those award winning lilies are way to pretty! Thanks for sharing the show with us. I would love to get my hands on When I Dream and Royal Trophy. I'm sure you would get an honorable mention at least Chuck. :)

(Zone 4a)

Wow those DL's are just gorgeous!!!! I think my fav is Shell Craving! All of them are just soooo pretty. Thanks for sharing!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I like Lady Liz - did they tell you where you can purchase these?

Marlborough, MA(Zone 5b)

In answer to a couple of questions.
There were a couple of growers there that were selling some DLs.
None of the lilies that were in the show were for sale.
All of the entries were from the personnal gardens of the individual so there wasn't any mention of were you might buy them.
It was very interesting to see the number of entries in the youth group. That might answer the thread about people who grow flowers being old.

Those were lovely Chuck! Thanks for sharing!! I own a few of them, but need to tell ngam that "When I Dream" is beautiful in real life, I have yet to find a photo that does it justice.
This one was taken a few years ago.....it's so much prettier in person.

Oh so pretty! Where did you get your "When I Dream'? Those bright colors that show across the yard are my favs.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I really don't remember where I bought it.....but this lady is selling it on ebay and it may have very well been the person I bought it from. She is one seller that I trust and one of the first people I bought daylilies from.

Roycroft's has it and I know they are having a sale, but not sure if this is on sale or not. It's kinda pricey for one fan!

Hope this helps some .

Oh thanks so much for the info Celeste. I just took a quick look see at the 2nd site, you could very easily drop a bundle there. :)

I was drooling all over myself at the show. I kept saying, "oohh, I got to have this one." And my wife kept saying, "you don't have any space to put it." Is there such a thing as a YARD STRECHER?
Chuck

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes - it's called the long neglected terrace in the middle of the street :-)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Trees take up lots of room...rip em out!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Absolutely - lose the trees! We had a tree company remove 5 out of our city lot when we arrived.
