My daughter-in-law has a blood leaf plant that used to do very well, however, over the winter, she said it started developing what looked like a disease where the leaves are browning and there are bumps on the stems. Can she save this plant or should she chuck it and get a new one? What causes this?
please help
The pic is a little out of focus, but that could be scale. Try rubbing the bumps off.
Personally, I would pitch the plant, but if you have some stems that are unaffected you could try some cuttings.
Could also be fungus...it looks like the soil is pretty damp....Quite often plants dont get enough air circulation. Can especially happen if she waters it with tap water (too much chlorine and minerals) which causes a build-up on the stems, which stay damp longer.
