Not sure.....

San Antonio, TX

what I have....I obtained this plant in a trade and I have had it for 2 years now. It had never bloomed till this year. Anyone know what it is and how I should care for it (ie., cuttings, over wintering, etc...)? The branches are very tall but not very full. Any help is appreciated.

It is a Hedychium, can't tell which one. Can you take another picture? How tall are the pseudostems? Hedychiums don't branch out, so what you have is what you get, you just get more of them as the rhizome grows and sends up more shoots. Most Hedychiums usually do well in part sun part shade. If you can plant it in an area where it gets full morning sun and shade/filtered light afterabout 1pm until around 4pm, it should do fine. Water regulary and feed with a good time released fertilizer.

Will take a better pic to show the length of the stalks which are pretty tall. At this time we are constantly under flood watches cause its been raining continuously. When Im able to get out I'll take the pic and post it. Thanks for the advice...

Stay dry.. I know how it is with the rain, it's either feast or famine. I will think, 'dry' for you.
