Hi all. I just found this forum. I joined for midsouth gardening. Was looking at the forums today and found this one. Im SURE Ill be back again. I have many epi's. Mostly rhipsalis. Im always looking for new unique plants, and epis seem to be my favorite so far. Right now mine are all doing great hung in the branches of a redtip tree by the steps to my front porch. If it isnt raining tommorow, maybe Ill take some pictures and post them. I just recently (a month ago) heard of putting a bannanna peel in the pot with the epis and just letting them rot there. Tried it, and it really seems to help. Do you guys have swaps here? If so, where do you hold them? Im so excited to have found an epi forum...whoooo hoooo!!!! LOL

Welcome Lismil,
I have just started getting into Epi's myself and I love them :)
What is the rotting banana supposed to do? I never heard of that.
We do have trades (it's under the plant trading forum) and I have seen people advertise trades in the forum the plant belongs so I guess to answer your question, either here or most likely the Plant Trading forum.
Welcome again, I think you will love it here.
You will notice that some of the forums are more active than other forums as it truly depends on the plant and how many people grow them or follow the forum.
Enjoy!
Kim
lismil - three questions for you -
Do you have e. hookerii?
Do you want e. hookerii?
Will you be at the Tupelo round-up in Oct? I'd be happy to do some trading!
Banana is high in potassium. I use the peels and sometimes over ripe bananas in many of my potted plants - philodendrons *love* it, too. When I see over ripe nanas on sale at the store I buy a lot and freeze them.

I'm a newbie as well, and no I can't make it to the Tupelo RU due to the Race. :(
I haven't a thing to trade, but could I hang out, and just admire yours?

I am also definately a newbie.
Lismil-Seen your beatiful pics here and on the MSF.
I find myself being drawn in more and more by these plants. I love the epiphylums and just "discovered" rhipsalis by accident this year when I rescued one from the clearance rack at Lowe's. I only have several of the same variety of NBC, a new start of ric rac cactus, and the one Rhipsalis- would love to have more, so I am now professionally lurking in this forum to learn more about names /types so I know what to shop for. LOL
I will be at the R/U in tupelo and I would love to trade a start of the ones I have for ones you all may have, whoever is going to be there.
Sharon
