Have had my Dutch Pipe vine growing for two years now and finally got a BUNCH of cats devouring it. YEA !! Pipeving Swollowtails
First image just needs the caption, " You all know why I have called this meeting".
Finally, some cats
Those are some beauties Kipper. I don't have a Dutch Pipe Vine growing as I don't think it will grow here but they are awesome plants and would love to have some Swallowtails. Good for you. Hope they do well and keep the pics coming of their progression please.

That second one looks like a polydamas??? Maybe you just get more colorful variations where you're at.

Congrats on all your PSTs Kipper!!
Yeah Cat, Some of mine threw me also, with more of a redish body does look like Poly, but turned out they were always PVSTs after all.
;-D
Boy! You are right that one is a chubby cat! Looks really healthy! Are you going to hand-raise them or let them continue in the "wild"? Lucky you to get so many! Did you purchase your vine or grow it from seed?
Deb...did yours have those lighter markings on the body like in Kipper's photo?
Those markings remind me of the poly cats I've seen posting on Dave's. I haven't had the pleasure of raising Polys yet...but got two huge aristolochia elegans just waiting for a female to leave little presents on :o)
All the PVSs down here are usually bright orange which makes them so easy to find in the wild...but alas, I've raised plenty over the year so leave them to Mother Nature...and she must be doing something right considering the gobs of PVSs at the ranch.

Know what Cat? I might have to beg your most humble pardon. :LOL...
Look at Roxannes pic here, http://davesgarden.com/bf/showimage/3350/
Kipper just might have a PDST after all....In fact , I'm pretty sure that one in Post #3759762 is. Polydamas ST
Kipper you're double lucky!!

We need to see pics of the chrystalis too, not that I will ever need to id one! Loved the first pic of the group at the top of the stem.
Wait a minute...you mean Kipper gets both PVS and Polys on her aristolochia and I get none?! Hey, life ain't fair!!! Oh well, on a brighter side...my vines are now two years old so this may be the year to look forward to...come on Polys!!!
That other photo of the cats eating the seed pods look like Polys too. Yet, I often find PVS eating seeds pods of the native aristolochia erecta back at the ranch...but I believe that is because the plants are soooooo small...they quickly eat all the leaves and stems and have nothing else but the seed pods to eat. I do have some staked out and am checking on them each weekend. Am trying to get some ripe pods to harvest...if only the cats would leave some behind!!!
Oh...and Kipper....double congrats on the PVS and the Polys.
