blooms in tucson

Tucson, AZ

here are some blooms from tucson. i think that these are good varieties for our desert heat!

this is a noid white that i saved from a nursery in phoenix. i didn't have leaves on this one until june and it looks to be a slow grower. the flowers have a light fragrance. kathy affectionately calls it twiggy because the stems are slightly wider than a no. 2 pencil.

this is kitty's plumeria. esther mentioned that she will register it shortly. we should see a name change in the near future. the bloom size on this one is amazing given the heat that we've had. i had another that bloomed in summer, too. my only concern is that this one is very, very leggy - branches over 30" before blooms!

finally, here's samoan fluff. this one has been blooming like a champ in our heat even while it was rooting. the branches were so shriveled that i was just about to cut off the inflo. i can smell the flowers from a distance. get one of these if you're in arizona!

Beautiful pics, Dete! I especially love 'Kirsten K,' aka 'Kitty.' The color really does come out with the heat you have.

thanks louise and clare.

i was told that the last one is not samoan fluff. bummer! oh well, it's still a keeper in my book. i'll definitely propagate it because it does well here.

Oh yes, a keeper! I've got a couple blooming that I'll post later here if you don't mind dete. They aren't as spectacular as yours, but they're blooming and that makes me jump for joy!
