What to plant around a wax-leaf ligustrum

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw something out there for yall to talk about. On the corner of my house (NE) I have about a 6' tall wax-leaf ligustrum that has nothing planted around it and thought I'd let everyone brainstorm and give me some ideas. My landscaping theme is kind of eclectic, but If I had to call it something maybe Old South tropical? Its a mix of tropical and heritage plants like camellia, similiar to what you find in a New Orleans and surrounding area gardens. The plantings on east side of the ligustrum consist of a sago palm on the opposite corner (this is a wing that extends out from my house) with variegated shell ginger behind it and Ensete Maurelli bananas behind them. In the middle of the wing I have a massive clump of black magic EE's that are flanked on either side by chinese fan palms and a row of 'shishi gashira' camellia in front of them. Behind or the north side of the ligustrum I have a large stand of 'Bordelon' bananas with a clump of 'pink china' elephant ear beside it, behind or west of them is a large stand of bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr'. Sorry for the big spill, but I've been considering maybe planting a blue flowering hydrangea behind the ligustrum on the corner of the wing, then, flank it on either side with some large grasses like variegated miscanthus and in the foreground or in front of the ligustrum a mass planting of mondo grass. Not commited to any particular design idea so I'd love to hear yours. Thanks.
