Looking for creepersneed to cover some ground!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm looking for ground covers again...lol

Would love:

Golden creeping jenny (quite a bit if possible)
Sedums/ low-growing sedums other than dragons blood/Autumn joy
Saxifragas (any)
Any other funky ground covers

I have too much stuff to list but if you have any of these, please let me know what kinds of things you like and I'll see what I have.

Thanks everybody ;)

Athens, OH

I have quite a bunch of ground covers.
Sedums [spurium, acre, kamtschaticum]
Creeping jenny
salvia lyrata
campanula punctata 'cherry bells'
variegated vinca (green and light green)
variegated creeping charley (glechoma)

Would you happen to have any elephant ears [I have many of the common ones], pumonaria, brunnera, double-flowered hellebores, thalictrum, boltonia, heuchera [ I have many of the common ones]?

ROX

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey rox, thanks for the response, I like some of your stuff but don't really have what you're looking for, probably

I know you really want a black runner, and I have really been trying to get it to grow, but can't seem to make it do anything..lol I already have one reserved cause I've seen your posts and have felt bad--but what others are you looking for, my collection is new.

Of the other plants, I have common heucheras and pulmonaria "Raspberry Splash', and very small "Ms. Moon"

Thanks again a whole lot :)

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

You had me going there for a minute, Tropicanna.... I was about to go to plant files and look up "creepersneed"... lol

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Kara, my friend! Do you have shady spots or partly shady spots that need some covering? I have false purple shamrocks that spread nicely and some yellow flowered epimedium. Also Green Dragon-a jack in the pulpit plant That seeds about and covers some area.
Bev

ps-Also plenty of purple lamium...and I hate to say it...that yellow flowered lamium that can't be stopped!

Ajuga, too!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Yeah, yardqueen, still learning how to type after all these years, and I hate to preview things well...lol

Oh, Bev, to the rescue! Do your shamrocks have the variegation of the darker purple or are they solid purple. If yours are variegated, mine aren't and maybe you'd like some. I've killed lamium....yep, beleive it, several times. But would love to try the epi and green dragon.

And what might you be looking for Bev (almost scared to ask..lol) I happen to have some Illustris eears and Black Stem, too.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I noticed you have some shastas on your list, I've got tons of those.

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Ok...How does one go about killing lamium? I'm going to send you some of the yellow 'garden grabber' ;-) If you can kill that, I need to see it!
The shamrocks are Oxalis regnellii. Is this what you already have? I also have a bit of 'Iron Cross', but it's just getting started.
Green Dragon-Pinellia tripartita...when the seedlings for this come up, the tiny little leaves are heart shaped, so don't pull them up by mistake! Can you tell that I've done just that??
The epimedium is 'Fronhleiten'. I'ts evergreen, but you will need to cut the ragged winter leaves off in early spring. Pretty, dainty yellow flowers-one of my favorites...It will need some babying when first transplanted...keep it watered. It likes to sulk a bit...must be a male plant! LOL
You can surprise me...You always send the best surprises!! Shastas are always cool!
BTW...Wasn't that a dwarf iris you sent in your last 'special' box? It's planted in front of the ee's....It's my 'Kara' garden!

Athens, OH

Thanks for trying to grow the Black Runner for me. If ever you are successful, please let me know.

Meanwhile would you like a box of goundcover for postage?
ROX

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

ROX, if you could do that, it would be great. I can send paypal whenever. Those darn runners are hardly 6 inches tall, but I'll let you know. They did great last year

BEV, don't ask me how I kill things, but I'm pretty good at neglect...lol. I went back through and looked and I'm thinking I don't remember what I sent! lol I know I put some other stuff in your box, but didn't bother to write it. But I have no dwarf iris, if you have a pic I can help.

This is the oxalis I have lots of, I think I'd like some of yours if they are at all different : http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/136139/
definitely want to try green dragon and the epi. I can put together some colocasias, and shastas, do you like amaryllis? How about callas? Want some cannas?...lol

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Have mercy! Don't rip up your whole garden;-))) Colocasias and shastas will be fine...I'm going to have to dig up more 'Kara space' !!!
Will send your box out next week...Still nursing the arm, so I do things a little at a time. OK??

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Sounds good, woman, take care of yourself :)

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, and I'll send some shamrocks...They look very similar, except mine have pink flowers and no leaf variegation. Cool picture!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Sounds great, have a wonderful weekend!

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks!

On the topic of killing creeping lamium - when we were starting out with our 1st raised bed, we bought "white Nancy" because my daughter's name is Nancy. That first bed was all manure and loam and compost and topsoil and i don't know what-all, all yummy stuff delivered by the local garden center. So white Nancy began to show signs of taking over. We dug her out in a panic and lay her on some ordinary dirt. I'm not even sure we dug a hole - we must have, i guess i don't remember. Anyway, she died all right. :-( That's how to do it.

We could probably use some ajuga; I forget who said they had it.

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

I have some, Carrie...
Bev

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Bev - which kind? There are so many listed....

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

I'd have to look it up, Carrie... but it's been around here awhile. It's prob. just the plain old green with burgandy old ajuga that wasn't labeled as to cultivar when I bought it. Nothing fancy.
Bev

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Does it only bloom once? One of them is a repeat bloomer.
x, C

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Yep, I think so...Although it does bloom for quite a while here. The bees love that stuff, don't they?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Haven't lived with it in years. I'm looking for one of the "new and improved" varieties. Thanks, though, tgg

xxx, Carrie

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Don't blame you, Carrie! There are certainly lots of pretty, new ones about these days:-) I saw 'Chocolate Chips' in the nursery today when I was out. Very tempting, but I'd have some major prep to do before I had a place for it...Maybe later.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Does Ch ch bloom and bloom? Do you know?

xx, C

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

I googled it and listed bloom time is May-June. The more I read about it, the better I like it...ok, more work to do!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

We can wintersow it, no?

xxxx, Carrie

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Could be Carrie! But this seems to be my summer of instant gratification fueled by the bevy of enablers on this site;->>>> Wonder if that's the proper collective noun...?? LOL
Bev

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

ROTFLMAO!!!!!
