Vertical or horizontal perches for pupating BST cats?

Manning, SC(Zone 8a)

Okay, perhaps a silly question but now that my cats are getting ready to pupate, I'm wondering if having vertically placed sticks is the wrong thing to do? I've got the sticks (of dill) in dry florist foam in containers. But I've never seen a BST chrysalis, and now I'm wondering if they prefer hanging off of a horizontal surface? Please help, I think they're about ready to pupate!!!! Also, do they wander around long, between that last cleansing poop and finding where they want to pupate? I seem to have several cats going around in circles around the crate, a little frantically.

All of my BST cats just pupated right on the side of the cage. If you have sticks in there then they have that option. Sometimes they'll wander for hours...it makes me crazy!

They pupate both ways, here's one of mine that pupated on a mw branch, I had Monarch cats in there too.

Oh Adrienne, thanks! I'm glad to know that, this is my first experience and I feel like they're LOOKING for something, the way they're wandering, like I should've provided something that they NEED and it's not there!
And thank you (again) Fly_girl, I'll have to see if I can rig up something horizontally to give them another option.

That one was actually vertically and I hung it that way to get it out of the way. I don't have a pic of one horizontally. I guess they just choose whichever one they're in the mood for lol

I've had them crawl around a while too....I just thought they were looking for the right spot, but I'm not sure why they do that.

Keep going Thea. Your time has almost come. You are going to be so thrilled when they pupate and you get a little rest maybe and then when they come out of that oh what joy you will have. I am thrilled for you and think you have done just an awesome job. Keep it up girl it is almost over.
