Interesting. Speaking of features. Does everyone like the new way pictures are displayed now?
I love the new pictures...............sooo much clearer and better.............now we will all have to get better with our cameras............
Jury is still out on the "new" pictures for me .... can't decide if I like it yet. Guess it just takes me a while to get used to it!
I finally got it to the place where I could add names for the Friends & Group thingy .... now when I go to manage my preferences page and click on it there's nothing there and I put in the names of six folks I have traded with!?? I'm not real sure what's going on .... "New Stuff" ..... grrrrr, aggravating. hee hee ... I guess eventually I will get the hang of it when I can figure it all out!
I will say, I enjoyed reading the text along side the photos as they were before.
I hate the new pictures,(well not the pictures they look great) but with a very old computer and dial up service,it takes way to long.
oh, that is right, Snowrose.................we can't read what someone has written now...........bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!! The good doesn't outweigh the bad on this one.
I already miss the way it used to be.I loved the writing alongside the pics.Maybe if enough people don't like the new way they will change it back.
So, jannich, the new way with the photos takes longer for you now than it did before?

I feel badly that I never put pictures in the plant files............do you suppose they really want us to?????

I went over to the DG forum to check things out when I started noticing changes...
Here's a tip about the photos, for those who preferred them the old way. If you click on the post number (to the left of the post, under the date and time), you will get an enlarged photo with the text of the post displayed next to it.
If you right-click on the post number, you can upload the bigger photo plus text in a new window... if you're on a slow dial-up connection, that means you can stay in your current window and continue to read down the thread while the photo loads in the new window.
I do like the fact that it's easy to get back to the thread from the photo now. You click on the thumbnail, the screen goes dark except for the enlarged photo, and then you just click anywhere outside the box with the photo to get the thread back.
The new way of showing the photos does seem a little slower to me. but Dave might still be working the kinks out to streamline that.
Thanks Critter.I would have never figured that out on my own.Now I can still see them the old way..ahhh soooo much easier for me to load and I like the old look much better : ).
Critter, how do you add a new name and picture to the african violet plant file????? i don't see too many names of avs I have or know of...............thanks
Be sure to search for the name (use the "cultivar" field) to make sure it isn't already in there.... If it is, you can just click on "add your own note" or "upload an image" (at the bottom of the PF page for the plant), and you can also add details.
To add a cultivar to PF, click on the "add a plant" tab at the top of the PF page.... it'll ask you to input family, genus, and species as well as cultivar... and then a new page will be created.
We should all take the time to add comments and images (it's on my to do list!), especially since the AV pages got overhauled this spring (big thanks to Jesse and Terry and to others who helped with input and suggestions)... thanks for the reminder!
