Absolutely stunning!

They sure were. I want some. The PF didn't list them hardy to this zone. I wonder.

Actually, 8a is way off. PDN lists it as hardy to z6b, so you may be able to push it. I just got mine this year and planted it late, no blooms yet, but I like these ;) http://www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Current/Detail/01796.html

I love the Biltmore Estate gardens, it is really so nice there. I haven't gone this time of year in a long time.

Yes I've visited Biltmore many years ago when I was on vacation here while I still lived in England. Very impressive place.

I have to grow Eucomis as pot plants or summer annuals here in Maine. They are so unusual though and always invite comments.

The Walled Garden and the Conservatory were just stunning. The other areas would best be seen in spring, the Azalea Garden, or fall I think. The Glossy Abelia, Abelia x grandiflora, was in full bloom. That was nice.

The first time I went was in spring, and the azaleas were nice (I normally hate azaleas--not sure if that's legal to say in the south..lol). I think the conservatory is my fave, too.

Nice place, I always enjoy it. If you ever take the time to really look at all the artwork, etc. you can kinda see they had to be eccentric folks.
