Full Swing Summer Bulbs

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

You don't have to be a Bogey fan to love "Casablancas!!"

Mine are bigger and better this year and their scent is intoxicating along the front walk. They are about 6' tall. It's 90 degrees out but these look so cool.

Show your summer bubls while they're hot!!

and one from last Friday- Godzilla
Godzilla smells fabulous- Scheherazade doesn't smell at all, although they look very similar to my untrained eye :) it's how I tell them apart

Here is today's pic of Godzilla. It's in the sunshine, so the color is more true, although the shot is angled.

Oh, Oh! are those yours?

I wish! I took the picture in a lily breeder's field, so they are all no-names.

I bet that field smells fantastic. I want to go live there!

Great lilies!! Beauty Rose's color is really nice....and also the hot pinks of the others. Yesss--I wish I had a field of lilies, too.

I had some blackberry lilies but the picture wasn't that good. They are 7 feet tall. I'm waiting on a pink calla "Captain Romance" and orange dahlias "Caliente" which were acquired and planted late. I also have several crocosmias that are late summer bloomers that I'm waiting on.

wow!!! All mine are done blooming now :(

They sure were beautiful! My easter lilies were amazing and the sent was awesome!

OK, I decided to post the blackberry lilies, anyway. Wanted to keep the pictures coming in. It's not a close-up mug shot, but....the color is hot!

I am correcting the plant ID on those orange "blackberries." Another DG thread ("Early Summer Bulbs") posted a picture of a Blackberry Lily that was quite different--Jmorth suggested mine are Tiger lilies. I have posted on the plant ID forum for help. The lily family is so diverse, and I think there are several kinds that are called Tigers or Leopards. Whatever they are, I have fallen in love with them and allowed them to grow up through the hostas they are knee deep in now. They stand like sentinels at the foot of of a rock wall. On top of the wall is a small water pond and waerfall. Many birds and butterfiles play here......The orange flowers are gone now but----Summer is ON!!

Yes, they were confirmed "Tigers." What a great plant!! One gardener said they are fragrant at night!! I'll have to check on this next year--I missed the opportunity to whiff them at night early in July when they bloomed.
