I'm experimenting with growing potatoes in wire cages with straw mulch and they were growing like crazy until lately. It looks like something is chewing them up but I haven't been able to see what's going on. Anyone have any advice?

Is there a white fungusy growth on the underside of the leaves? It might be potato blight.
I finally figured it out! Slugs! Ugh!
I've sprinkled some diatomaceous earth around them and am going to make some slug traps and get some copper flashing or tape to put around the plants. We'll see if that will work.
The straw must make a great home for them.
