Need ID's on these two Hoya's

(Zone 1)

Hope someone can help. I've got these two and am not sure of the correct ID. They are both now blooming so thought maybe someone would be able to tell from the bloom.

Here's the first: Possibly DS-70?

This one someone thought might be H. 'Brevialata':

you are right on both, how long have you had them?

Prescott, AZ

I'm wondering how you tell the H. brevialata and the H. incurvula apart? I have two plants, one labeled H. brevialata and one H. incurvula. I can't tell them apart. Is it that the corona ( I think ) curves backward on the H. incurvula, and that being the only way to tell them apart?

I think brevialata and incurvula are the same.

Medford, NJ

They look the same to me, but I think incurvula has smaller "adult" leaves for the most part.... in the plant files on this site, if you look up brevialata, Carol posted pictures of both leaves.

I wish mine would bloom, it looks so freaky right now, there are about thirty 10" vines coming strait out of the plant in all directions. It looks like it stuck one of it's stems in an electrical socket.

Thanks Bhavana34: I was hoping both of these would smell wonderful too ... but I don't like the fragrance on either. Kinda musty or something, just can't describe it. I love the Lacunosa fragrance which someone else told me they think smells like soap! That is blooming for me now too. I have two baskets (originally one) of a variegated Hoya either Krimson Princess or K. Queen ... not sure which, an elderly friend gave me 30 years ago .... it is blooming also and has no fragrance. I have another that is variegated that I bought this year, blooming but no fragrance.

I've had the two pictured above for about a year.

... Carol posted pictures of both leaves.

There was a short thread on it too. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/601697/

Lin! lovely hoyas!

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Hmmmm....very strange. The leaves on my brevialata differ in size like shown in the link above....some are small, and some are big. I looked at Christina's site under brevialata, and she says that they may be the same, but it's not definite.

I know, Gabi, my brevialata plant is full of all different size leaves too, but I think what we compare are the mature leaves, to the mature leaves on the other plant. Incurvulas leaves, I think, do not grow past a certain size. Maybe Carol will chime in and explain.

I know what you're saying, but even my mature leaves differ in size like those pics. I don't know....all I know is that it's my least favorite hoya! The foliage just doesn't do it for me.

Medford, NJ

I feel the same about some hoyas, I don't really care for multiflora, or some of the bushy hoyas, and thin leaves just don't say hoya to me at all. Thank god I don't love them all!
