July Bingo Calls and chat #2
Alrighty! Thanks Threegardeners! I used to have dial up until about 8 years ago and can also relate! Went on vacation awhile back and had to deal with dial up once again because the place we stayed didn't have high speed .... oh what a hassle .... so slow and I have little patience!
Thanks that's much better :)
Wonderful! Double checking to see if I have the all???
great game!
MsC
I laughed, ladylin, when you said you haven't had dial-up for 8 years!!! lol ; ) Until last year in our small town, dial-up or satellite were our only two options. I had dial-up. Then the company who provided our service went out of business and I had no internet for about a month (those were the dark ages...well, the dark month). And finally Sprint saved us all by providing our area with DSL. All Hail Sprint! lol jk My neighbor refused to buy it, saying it was too expensive (only $15 more??) and would come over to use my computer at odd hours of the day...while the whole family was taking a nap, even. lol Yeah...she'd just come in without knocking. But I finally learned to lock the door. haha!!
Threegardeners, you probably shouldn't have put "chat" in the subject...I can get REALLY off topic. I'm sure most of us can. haha!! ; )

CJ: Wow ... I can't imagine a month of no internet access! Wow! I'm curious .... does the neighbor ask to use your computer now that you are locking the door? Maybe you should make a sign with an hourly fee for neighbors. :)
lol I really don't mind her coming over to use the computer. But when she tells me that it was so funny being over while we were all sleeping...that bugs me.
It must be nice to live in a part of the country where you don't have to lock your doors!! I remember those days ..... back in the 50's and 60's! Now, I lock up like Fort Knox .... check and double check doors, especially at night! Years ago I heard of a home being broken into while the couple were in the den watching t.v. ..... someone jimmied open a window in the back of their house and ransacked the bedroom, taking cash and jewelry ..... scary, they were right in the other room!
Yikes!! We used to think our house was protected...we had a different kind of security system... I'm sure you'll laugh... there are three of the most gossipy, nosy neighbors you'd ever have met. Retired and bored. Nothing better to do than watch and see what's going on. If an unfamiliar car is parked in our drive, you'd be sure to know they'd come over afterwards wanting to know who it was. One lived on our East side, one on our NW side, and one on our South side. This way, our whole house was covered from burglars!! But the NW side neighbor moved away so we're not protected anymore. lol ; D
Today's calls are.......
ready???
LOL, CJ .... I love it! We have one neighbor who is retired and sits by his window all day watching the neighborhood! He doesn't miss a thing! My hubby bought a new truck about a week and a half ago and the day he brought it home that afternoon I came in from shopping and said "I'm surprised "D" our neighbor hasn't called to ask about your new truck yet." Hubby laughed and said he did ... he came right over to see it. Left a message on the phone later saying it was the nicest looking truck he'd ever seen. He is a nice neighbor and we jokingly call him the Neighborhood Watch guy because he knows everything thats going on around here! It is really funny sometimes ... he used to wait til he saw us drive up and our phone would be ringing and he'd ask, did you know about (such & such) .... something that was going on with someone in the neighborhood! We do appreciate him "watching" though. About two years ago he called the police about 2 a.m. - he had been out and was going into his garage, he backs into his garage and noticed some guy in our yard up by the guest bedroom window. The guy saw him and walked out to the corner to the bus bench and sat down. Buses don't run at night here, and they've since moved the bus stop from the neighborhood out to the main highway a few blocks away. I woke up that night seeing the patrol car spotlights shining in the windows! I turned on the spotlights out side but had no idea what was going on until the neighbor told us the next day! We have our front porch and garage lights on sensors now so they are on at dusk and off at dawn. Sometimes it pays to have "nosy" neighbors! :)
Woo Hoo ..... We're Ready!

Tonight's bonus call......whooooo hoooooo
Sinningia Cardinalis "Innocent".......I like his growing habit....very tidy and lots of blooms...
http://www.gesneriads.ca/sinni221.htm
Hey! I got 'Gold Digger'! Didn't have the other two though.
I like the Sinn. Cardinalis....
Karen
Alright! I have another one! The Sinn. Cardinalis innocent .... neat looking plant!

Gloxinia 'Sylvatica'
**********you should see her now.........this pic was taken as she came out of a box lost in the mail for 8 days.....................
Very nice plant, gessie. You say it was in the mail for 8 days?! Wow!! No one would even know!!
Very interesting how the pictures are coming up differently when you click on them. I tried clicking on someone's user name earlier today to send them a dmail- that came up different, too. Everyone try it! lol
LOL CJ...You made me try it with your name.Love the baby pic..So precious : )
Gail that plant is stunning! It traveled VERY well!!
Sinn piresiana is a beauty.I love the shape : ))
Thanks!!!
Check out Ladylin- she looks like a teenager. ; )
Yay!! I had the second call of the day! It is a very interesting looking plant, I like it.
I've been enjoying the new way the thumbnail pictures pop up too! Took my by surprise at first but I'm getting used to it.
Very cute baby CJ, no bumps on his head then :))) and I agree Lin does look like a teenager!! Clicking on the names and seeing a picture pop up is a fun addition!! I need to get a picture with all three of my grandkids but for now I'll use one with the youngest, she is a doll. :))))))
~Brenda
******** Oh man, am I blushing ******* I've gotta find a way to change that picture! Maybe take a shower, wash my hair and put on clean clothes!
Love your little one CJ, such a cutie and ..... Brenda, that is one Lovely Little Girl! Big Girl is a Beauty too!
Oh, how I envy y'all with the grandbabies!
The grand babies are wonderful Lin! Your picture is perfect, your with your plants, maybe that should be a requirement for all of them..... LOL
I do believe that your the last one to bed and the first tone to rise each day!! :0)) How do you do it??
~Brenda
Cjo your neighbor sounds dang scarey.
Brenda, I go in spurts. I am sometimes up until 2 a.m. and sleep for maybe 5 hours and am up for the day, other times I am in bed at 11:30 and up about 7:00. I do get VERY sleep deprived at times! I have four cats, one which keeps me awake wanting in and out all night (we have french doors in the bedroom that go out onto the screened pool deck) this particular cat came from a feral cat family and she is scared of everything and everyone but hubby and me. She sleeps all day, under the covers on the bed - that's her hiding place. She thinks no one can see her under there .... a large 16 lb blob under the covers! We've tried putting her out in the other part of the house and closing the bedroom door .... didn't work ..... she cries at the door wanting back in!
I also have a hubby that snores .... I am a very light sleeper and when I get woken up it takes me a couple of hours to get back to sleep, so usually I just get up and go to another part of the house and read or do laundry or watch t.v. or play with plants!
Oh, don't change your picture, it's perfect with you surrounded by your outdoor plants, a nice poolside setting. You look great!
She is a DOLL, bmedel! Going to look a lot like her grandmother! ; )
makshi- I just stay on her good side. She's managed to make enemies of 2 people living close...and she's on the city counsel. Let's just say both moved. lol ; )
Today's call sre:
4 Besleria Labiosa...nothing spectacular...but I liked the yellow flowers
http://www.gesneriads.ca/besler08.htm
11 columnea filifera....this one caught my attention because he is unlike any columnea I have ever seen.
http://www.gesneriads.ca/colum058.htm
Good luck to all!!! I wonder if we're getting close to a bingo yet? When we do, I should cut the call back to one a day.....maybe....
Well, I have one of those on my card ... now I'm at 7 of the 16 calls made so far!
Didn't have either one of these tonight, but I'm currently at seven.
Karen
Neither for me either tonight.I am at 7 too.
Such a huge variety of plants and plant size in this gessie family....I had the Besleria Labiosa for today so I think that bumps me to 8, don't have my card here in front of me tonight....
So that explains it Lin, pets and snoring husbands having you up at all hours....LOL... I did baby/toddler duty with our four kids for a lot of years, so now DH does pet duty at night :))) I like it that way....
~Brenda
Thanks for putting the calls at the top, the makes it so much easier for me to pop in and check them. I own a business and next week is sidewalk sales so I don't have a lot of flower time this week, lol.
I only have 5 of the calls so far, not too good :)
Sue
Seems like I always check in when nobody's around :-) I am stuck at 6.
It's a good thing it's Friday - I'm just about to turn off the lights and sit under my desk - that kind of day.
And tonight's calls are:
10 Columnea Arguta
http://www.gesneriads.ca/colum117.htm
20 Episcia "Moonlight Valley"....WOW
http://www.gesneriads.ca/episc16.htm
Good luck to all!!
woo hoo ... I've got the Columnea Arguta on my card! Not the Episcia though.
Hope everyone is doing great on this game ... I'm sure it will be right down to the wire as usual!
