Monarch's pupated

Indialantic, FL(Zone 10a)

I have tried a couple of times in the past to raise some Monarchs. But it seemed the cats always died when I put them in a cage. After reading all of the great instructions on this site, and all of the good luck others were having, I decided to give it one more shot. I brought 3 tiny cats in, and two of them made it. This morning I found that they had pupated. I put a nice stick in there but they seemed to like the top of the cage, instead.

Congratulations, Terrie! Success is Sweet and you just helped increase the Monarch population. Isn't that rewarding! I'm still waiting on the Monarchs to come my way. I've read all the good advice too and feel alot more comfortable knowing there's DGer's and instructions at hand.

I bet the Monarchs are on their way to your house right now!

Thanks!

That's so cool! I've got 8 cats chowing down on milkweed in my cage...I've never done this before, so I'm really looking forward to them pupating! I think 4 of them should do so by the weekend.

Thanks, Fly_girl!

While I was wandering the gardens yesterday I found 4 more baby Monarch cats. I brought them in and will see if I can continue having luck raising them.

I was just looking under all the leaves. I was actually looking for aphids, milkweed bugs, and lady beetles when I saw them. I had seen a couple of Monarchs a few days ago laying eggs on the plants.
