I wish these were of my yard but they aren't...these are pics of my parents yard! I hope you enjoy!
Garden pics!
I never would have left home.
No kidding eh? Not bad for Canadian gardens eh? LOL
Okay, now the early February pics! What are those variegated plants in that big round bed?
I don't know Victor but I could let you know if you really want to know?
Inquiring minds...
Ok no problem...I will ask the Master Gardener - my mom. I know they do have a funny bloom sort of like the hostas with a big stick thingy sticking out with some flowers on them....they really can fill an area!
Could be Bishop's Weed.
Actually yes I think you are right cause I looked it up and that is what it looks like...there you go....I "ahem" identified it for you LOL
Aegopodium! Yes, Bishop's Weed/Gout Weed - the same thing. No wonder it has a bed far from other plants.
Love your mom's plants and the dog, too.
Dawn, your parents yard/garden is just beautiful!! I would of stayed home forever with gardens and serenity like that. Oh....and those lilies are to die for!!!
Dawn, I would have stayed there too.... really nice!!!!!
Good genes!
Victor - those WERE the early February pictures - we just don't want the country overrun when everyone finds out how great it is. Why do you think we keep talking about the "Great White North" and make bad jokes about 10 months of winter and 2 months of bad sledding????
The world is not only flat, it's upside down.
Seandor, I saw Order of the Phoenix today. I really liked it (you have to not expect everything in a 700 page book to get in) But I thought they did a great job with Dolores Umbridge, Luna Lovegarden and Beatrix ? (Sirius' evil cousin).
My DW and daughter will be at the bookstore Friday at midnight as is there tradition. Then we will see how fast 3 people can read 2 copies of 1 book.
I saw it last week Dave. I like it. You're right about Umbridge. She was great. The NYT is supposedly breaking the pledge and reviewing tomorrow. Leaks have been reported. Personally, I've been saying for a while that Ron will die.
Is that your opinion or a leak? I don't want to know any leaks.
I think: Snape is a good guy, Nigel Longbottom will be key to victory and die, Dumbledore is not dead, at least in the traditional sense, I worry about Hagrid making it.
Opinion only.
Good! We take our Potter pretty serious around here.
How did you get from Dawn's parents' beautiful gardens to Harry Potter?? By the way I'm a fan of Harry's and I just love your parents' gardens - I would enjoy sitting in the gazebo all day to just look at the flowers!! Much better than pulling weeds or deadheading petunias!! Eleanor
These pics are wonderful as is the garden. I am very envious of that gazebo too. Just a lovely spot they have there and thank you for sharing it with us.
Dave47 and Victor - saw Harry Potter on Saturday night. Loved the movie - thought it was much better than movie 4. Movie 4 focused on special effects; this one focused more on Harry and his emotional turmoil.
Umbridge was good - mine is better! (For the past year I have been reading The Order of the Phoenix into a tape recorder). My Kreacher sounds a lot like the one in the movie
I ordered the last book yesterday - and hope to read it while we are camping - though if it arrives early, I might not be able to wait. lol
Personal views: The locket that was a horex (sp???) was in the Black house (see Order of the Phoenix - chapter where they clean the house). In book 1, Snape says he can "put a stopper in death" R.B. is probably Serius' brother. And Dumbledore is alive. Rowling says 2 characters die in the last book. Would hate for any of the characters to die (well, maybe it's okay if Malfoy dies . . .)
Dawn, your parent's garden is spectacular! How nice that you can take pics and brag about it :0)
Please don't give away any Potter secrets! I pre-ordered the book back in March for my granddaughter. She plans on camping out under the mailbox on Saturday!!!
Candyce - these aren't Harry Potter secrets from me - only speculations on my part. I could be totally wrong (for the second time in my life LOL)
Seandor:
I've been wrong more times than I can remember. It's not that Sammi ever READS these forums either. It's that I might, and blurt out something at an inappropriate time. I get a giggle when I think of her camping out under the mailbox on Saturday!
I know that no one here would EVER give away any secrets as important as Harry Potter secrets!!! Ever! Right?
Well, not a DG subscriber in good standing! lol
Michaela (who is almost always wrong)
I think dumbledore is, at least, alive in a Obi Won Canobi sense. My DW is big on the RAB = Sirius's brother (and I agree) Never noticed about the locket (hortex?). Good one. I think Neville & Snape are goners in heroic fashion
I am waiting to see when my copy of the book will arrive . . . hopefully it won't come until after the term papers are marked - otherwise it may be a while before the students get their marks :-)
Michaela:
I pre-ordered the one for Sammi back in March, and it was delivered to our mailbox on the 21st - as predicted. Where did you order your copy from?
I ordered mine from Amazon last week - not in March. The order said I would get delivery from July 23 - July 28. I received an email this morning that it has been shipped so I will probably get it in a few days.
Ahhh ....
I hope you get it soon. I still haven't read it, as my daughter has 'dibs' on it now that Sammi has finished it. I should have it in my hands by the weekend, though.
