Well, i have been whining that so far this year i have had no Monarchs. Last week for the first time I got a Queen laying eggs. I also had some gulf babies on the plants with some eggs I collected but no Monarchs. I went thru my garden last weekend cutting back my portweed which has taken over, got rid of some milkweeds that were going where they didn't belong knowing that I had no monarchs to feed. Well of course today I big momma Monarch came into the garden and layed eggs ALL OVER the place. Watch me run like crazy 1. to take a picture of it and 2. to pot any little milkweeds to put them in the pavilion for them. . To plant some more Scarlet milkweed seeds and a yellow milkweed to get more to grow.
Yeah!!!
Here is a pic of one my fritillaries the other day with my flame vine
Got Flutter babies and eggs!!!
Oh how pretty. I wish I had a monarch in my garden.
So do I! Got the milkweeds though. Just no Monarchs. :(

Great photo! Flame vine??? What's that?
Perfect shot!
Mexican Flame Vine. Cool flowers as you can see. Here is another picture of one I took with my camera. The lower thing is the old flower which has now seeded. Got really big in the past year. it started as a squatty little cutting last summer and is now like 10-15 feet long

Thank you so much for the picture and the link. Gotta put that one on my wish list, along with the Monarchs.
That Flame vine is so pretty, Ihave a little one that doesn't seem to be doing anything.
Isn't that the way it is...I just cut back some of my mw hoping it will come back fuller. Now I bet I'll see some Monarch females passing through.
We have the Mexican Flame Vine trellised on the back of the garage. In two years it had almost covered the back of the garage roof. We have to cut it back each fall.
Great nectar source.

Hey no problemo, I have released 6 Monarchs this week and have no milkweed left so I am sending them all to you guys.
Karen, tell them not to come to my house. I have 15 monarchs and queens still small and needing lots of milkweed. Then to top it off, that Momma Monarch that laid bunches of eggs yesterday either came back to lay more or sent one of her girlfriends over because there has been another one out there for a few hours laying eggs. I forsee my milkweeds all becoming pitiful stems..
