I need some help in contacting some animal rescues about the kitty I have that needs a home. The rescue in our area is full, and the brazos animal shelter does not have a good reputation. I would like to find a no-kill shelter or rescue for this guy so he can find a good home if possible. If anyone knows of names or numbers of places to contact, please let me know.
Thanks, Kim
OT: need contact info for animal rescues
Kim, here's the SPCA:

Is this the one that's full?
Also check petfinder.com. They have a list of shelters by area.
Thanks everyone for your help. I have contacted some more shelters, hopefully someone out there can help.

Kim, we stood in front of PetsMart for about thirty minutes on a Saturday morning (with their permission) and found new homes for two kittens that were born to a cat abandoned near our home. I felt good for one and apprehensive for the other. The second went to a large family that looked like everyone wanted to hold the kitten at once. The first went to a young couple who immediately went shopping and came out with food, litter, toys, etc.
Have you taken his picture to school? I placed two of the kitties with people I worked with. I even gave up the one I had intended to keep when a co-worker begged for her.
Good luck! He's a lucky cat to have you looking for his home.
You could also list the cat up for adoption on Craigslist or Freecycle.
You don't have to give him up to the first person who answers. Interview people and pick someone you're comfortable with.

Kim ,We have here Second chance pets. It is a foster program through Petco here.
A friend of mine posted a kitten for adoption , and she was warned several times about people looking for free kitten and puppies. They feed the small animals to their pet snakes. If you put them up for adoption with a fee they aren't likely due to the cost of the kitten.

Sorry if I grossed any one out.

Which rescue did you try?
The Cat's Cradle is local:

and Woodstock Animal Foundation:

Good news! I have found a rescue that is willing to help out Sam. True Blue Animal Rescue got back to me and will help me find Sam a good home. I am so glad. Thanks everyone for helping!

So nice to read a happy ending!
I'm so glad!!!
Kim, what are you doing Sat, July 21?
Inquiring minds want to know!!! lol
:~)
Work it, work it! Way to go, Smockette!
K, I brought back a box of plants fr City_Sylvia in Dallas for her.
I thought we were going to meet up in CS but she was @ her parent's new home! I thought she was going to join us & I was suppose to deliver Sylvia's plants to her.
I keep getting to be other Gardeners' plant-sitters.
I HAVE DEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will meet up with you & pass on BUT if the plants come to my house, the DEER may find them.
I think I have somewhere around 200' of chicken wire to protect my beds for the TEENAGE deer!!!!!!!!!!!
:~)
Well, I don't have deer.....lots of other critters but not deer. I'd be happy to plant sit until she can get them. Besides, I'm cleaning all the old succulents off the back porch tomorrow. (Hopefully we can talk her into coming Saturday).
Teenage Deer. LOL Thats what I call them also. We have many. They are the ones that run smack into your car while you are sitting at your mailbox. They stumble and look at you like "what did you get in my way for". It is a love hate thing.
Smockette....I sent you a d-mail. I'm heading to San Antonio Sat for a 5-day meeting for the Society for the Study of Reproduction. It's for my research.
:) Kim
Now Kim, that's the kind of study I wouldn't go around talking to loud about. Especially 5 days of it. ;oD
sorry.....couldn't help it.... ...slap on wrist........bad boy..........
ok kip...you are bad! Slap on the wrist! Now, when ya coming over for a wine tasting? Heehee? Seriously.
i'm near san antonio if you need anything while here
Kim is going to get you for that one Kip! LOL! ;-)
