Hi,
I would like to hear from some of you about your thoughts about grafted plumeria plants. I got 3 one time when I did not know they were going to be grafted plants. I just got 4 more for my birthday from my hubby... So what are the pro's and con's if any? Do they need special treatment?
Thanks for any help...
Susan
Grafted plants
what would be purpose of grafting plumerias? I understand that it's done sometimes to improve health and hardiness or to grow multiple fruits in small spaces.. But why would you want to graft plumerias? to harvest the flower to make leis?
There are four very informative threads on grafted plants in the FAQ's sticky thread: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/599185/ Here is one of them that answers your questions: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/687551/

I have no idea, is why I asked here... allot of people that I have spoken to have gotten grafted plumerias... Like I said the first three I ordered did not say grafted plumeria it said rooted plumeria... Some say they love them... Me I dont know what I like yet with them... if anything... So just waiting for someone to come in and give me some info...
Susan
Thanks Clare.

Some varieties are slow to root, in that case grafting speeds up your process. Also certain varieties have very strong root systems and it is desirable to graft cuttings on to those.
Some people don't like the look of the graft but after a while it evens out and becomes nearly invisible.
I'm a great fan of grafted plants.
big fan of grafted plants myself.
in a colder climate it's probably the best thing for you susan. that way you don't lose anytime rooting.
very very interesting info. thanks y'all for the info and susan for starting the thread.
