My chow, Harley, will be 12 next month. In the past few months, he's been having trouble standing up after he's laid in one place for a while... he seems to be OK once he's walked it off. When he tries to stand up, his right hind leg seems to give out on him. When I went home for lunch, he tried to stand up and then collapsed. After a while, he stood up, came to me, and went on a walk.
The vet says it could be the start of arthritis, a chipped bone that is in the joint that he just has to work out or just a stiff joint that goes to sleep on him after he's been still for a while.
I know he's 12 and I realize how old that is in people years and all that, but as you all are pet lovers, I hope you can understand how devestating it is to see your baby have trouble getting around.
I can't imagine life without him and I don't want him to be in any pain. Please excuse me for rambling. I've had him since he was 2 months old and, as pet lovers you know how much joy they bring to your life and how empty life would seem without them.
