Now if only people would stop calling my house for a Mr Muhammad (obviously had my number previously) we'd be okay. I even changed my answering machine to say, "I've never met Mr. Muhammad and he certainly doesn't live here......" They STILL leave messages!
Now when I answer and it's a solicitor calling for any homeowner or someone wanting donations I just reply, "I'm sorry, you have the wrong number" and hang up. Easy fix. :)
Now that's a great example of turning a problem into a plus! "When you encounter a lemon, make lemonade....."

Here is what I have done to virtually eliminate telemarketing calls:
Get on the Nat'l do not call list.-don't forget your cell phone numbers as well. Since that doesn't cover any companies that you already have an established relationship with (credit cards) you can call their customer service numbers and request to be removed from all their marketing lists for mail and telemarketing, also ask to not be solicited for additional products whenever you might call them. Charitable organizations also are not prohibited to call if you are on the do not call list so any time you receive a call just politely tell them to remove your number from their lists. It works!

Does anyone know the Do Not Fax registery? I get about a pk of paper every 2 months! That is about 500 sheets! That is a lot of wasted $$!
Ohhhh good one to ask for! I keep getting faxes for someone who USED to have my number.
Does the 811 number cost to call?
We always get calls from the phone company wanting to talk to the person incharge of paying the bill. DH told them "Oh that guy died." Or one time he told them "Oh yea, we fired that guy because he kept paying the bill."
I am currently registering all numbers on donotcall.gov and on Texasnocall.com.
I get aggravated with the phone person in charge calls. One sales person asked me how I felt about saving money? I told them I would gladly pay $20.00 a month more no to receive these calls... did she understand?
