Hi, Butterfliers,
Am looking for your thoughts---
I recently read somewhere that the preferred host plant for monarchs in the midwest is the 'Honeyvine' or 'Sand Vine' (Cynanchum laeve) a twining and climbing milkweed that looks much like morning glory with tender leaves.
I haven't heard much mention of it here on DG and I am wondering if anyone uses it in the garden or finds cats on it? I think the postitive/negative of it is that it grows fast, but, of course, in some eyes that translates to 'invasive' or even noxious weed.
Any thoughts?
Honeyvine or Sand Vine A Monarch Host Milkweed???
I think MissSherry uses it as a larval host. If it's the same plant I think it is then it grows wild at one of our parks near the river...and it is extremely invasive...but alas, it is always full of butterflies from the danaus family...mainly Queens as they are so abundant here.

Thanks, TPP, I wondered if it was invasive...I will google for it on the net and see if the seeds are around anywhere and if any BF gardeners up here use it.
