It does look to be a bit different than most forms. Are the stems marked or colored ? If you get some pups maybe we should trade LOL. I dont have this one.

Lovely face!

I have a pic of the stems. Here.... you can even see 2 tiny leaves coming out the edges of the pot! So a trade may happen yet!

I think the leaves are a little leggy due to my poor light and growing conditions... (i have no idea what i'm doing here. lol)

I put the label so you could see the name and desription but the flash bleached the colour out! If you want to know what the label says try the website.

Indeed, a gorgeous face, but what does the backside look like?

Looks like you have three pups and probably a runner...very nice

Very hard to say it could be something completely new to me or something very common. I have yet to see photos of a mature plant. These colocasias are is such a mess it would be nice to see all the different species and what makes them different but I have yet to see any scientific on them like that.

Athens, OH

Should we start a thread of Colocasias like we did for Xanths or would that get too crazy?

I let you get a glimpse of the back later Kara! lol

It made a kind of flower thing but that was when it was really sick so it just rotted off.

While i'm here does anyone know anything about Dragon Arum?

Mike

Athens, OH

I have one. Love it.

Here's a recent thread.

Rox I have around 50 forms of Colocasia fully grown and around 1000 hybrids coming along. I hope to put them all up on my site but have yet to be able to do so.

Mike the dragon arum I believe it Dracuculas vulgaris grows on the island of Crete.

Hey thats cool looking... i think i have one coming my way soon!

Could be a giggle... I'll put it near the neighbours patio when it flowers!

Brian-
If I started the thread, would you be willing to upload some of the 50 fully grown Colos?
I could also upload ~ 30 Hawaiian taro pics.

What do yo think? Too much work or would people us it as a resource?
I know I will keep the Xanth post. It was most informative!

well thank you! something headed your way in a little bit, too ;)

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Sounds good! lol Is it edible?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

of course!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow, just got the package, you're so generous! Thanks, really ;)

That was super fast

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Did you really???!!!

Lets see if they grow before you call me generous. If not you will have to come and get some cuttings and take them back on the plane! lol

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL, hopefully I can get them to grow, it's so appreciated.

But if you don't mind, just in case it would be great if you could keep a few cuttings around...lol

Louisville, KY

I would be interested in some of these if you get them growing or if you others to offer. Take a photo if they flower. I can get a good ID on it if you do.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Flower! I did and asked you about it. You never answered.. lol

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I take terrible pictures....will have to see how they work out first

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I have lost the cable for my camera... some little person was playing with it the otherday thinking it was a snake... now its vanished! I'll find it in the fridge or down the toilet!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

No way!!!! lol hope you find it quickly

Louisville, KY

Sorry about that might have sent the photo while I was out of town. I have missed a lot of emails and many seem to be lost. Was it sent on here on personal email? Still would like to see what it looks like. THANKS

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

The flower never opened. It rotted before then.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

must have slipped my mind, Mike I got your packages (wouldn't all go in one) mailed today, hopefully they arrive safely. I have a really cool amaryllis belladonna hybrid I wanted to put in there but it wouldn't fit in the envelope.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

No package yet! Hmm rubbish postal service!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

You didn't write plants on the customs form did you??? You should have written "ILLEGAL DRUGS" much more likely to get through!

Louisville, KY

The post office papers ask for you to be specific on what your sending I would have wrote - sample colocasia formosana. Plant would not be enough info LOL.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I have a new way... over here you can now print postage online... that way nobody asks any questions! So it only has to get through being searched and pulled out at random... so i guess its got more chance.

Tommorow i'm planting runners from this chap to see if anything grows.

Mike

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Well, I was going to write something else on the customs form but I can't post it, I wrote seeds. It did kind of look like I was sending drugs, but if they don't make it, I'll try again.

Our postal service is very slow. There were a few different ways I could have sent it but it got kinda confusing and weird cause even the people at the post office didn't seem to know the best way...lol

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Same problem here... so thats why i print my own.
Mike

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Well, it was complicated because I tried the envelope thing and I always mail boxes of plants. You can print labels, but only for priority and express---I thought that by sending it first class I would get out of having to do the customs thing altogether but I was wrong and didn't find out until it was all ready. With priority it's better to do flat rate but the envelopes aren't padded...I didn't want to risk a box.

It will probably be a week or two, lol, two envelopes actually. I did try to send things that I thought would make the long trip
