Grouping of containers

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Well it's a bit early in the season to start with pictures... as there are so few things blooming right now.. but more will arrive every day now.. and I should await the return of the Nikon from having it's auto focus ability restored.. but there's still a bunch going on... so here are a few photos... everything is container grown.. 60' in the air... Gordon, I remember you from Garden Web! Glad to see you here. I love photos of your "garden in the sky." I don't post much over there since I got sent to Disney.

Here's a view of my view from my 6th floor balcony.

Gordon, as usual, your rooftop is looking fabulous! The pics are great - must be over the moon in person!

I dunno, Gordon - it seems to me that I can see a LOT of blooms! LOL!
It looks great!
Is that a bed I see in the first pic? I know I see pillows.
What a great space.
The view in the 3rd pic is awesome!

It's NOT too early at all! I was thinking about your sky garden last week... Just lovely!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Gordon, the skyline photo is awesome, What part of Bklyn are you in? I grew up in Astoria, Queens.

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm your neighboor from Greenpoint or should I say "Greenpernt?" I lived on Dupont street just across from the Empire State Building. That was my view while walking up my street and to SS Cyril & Methodius School. The only trees that grew back then were in the churchyard!! Everything was concrete, cobblestone and tar....You have a beautiful rooftop garden. All you need are tomato plants? LOL

Concord, CA(Zone 9a)

I love your garden. I look forward to your pictures. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work that is. Thanks for sharing

Is that a delphinium in the forefront of the first picture? It looks a lot like one I used to have, but alive and flowering, LOL. Do you take it out and repot every year or what?
Very nice.

Carrie.. here's a better picture of the delphinium..sorry to hear you've lost yours... but what a grand time to go out and find the perfect one .. do you need any catalogs of plants... The Delphinium shares a big planter ... 14x14x36 with the lilly..you see.. and a heath.. and some assorted annuals.. and the ever returning beacon silver..
Linda... well thanks..I don't measure it in the never ending work.. it's a little plant research/breeding facility... a vacation retreat.. and a lovely mistress.. IT BRINGS SUCH JOY
TPlant.. Well thanks... OH.. I do have two types of grape tomatoes..they need picking bad.. and I'm starting one called Jelly Bean.. hopefully a sweet one.. years ago I'd grow alot of heirloom tomatoes.. and a bunch of new ones...have you tried the tiny wild one from the Everglades... but I've scaled back to match my comsumption..
......Victor..This is Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.. named for the little front yards..many blocks on the side streets have..Just down from Brooklyn Heights.. between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Battery Tunnel.. Gordon

AuntB oh.. Thanks... it's nice to be thought of.. here's another picture for you then... this is the tropical section
Nancy... Thanks... yes it is like a lounge... a shase cushon.. with the pillows for the back..sitting aganst the bottom of the skylight ...from which I arrive on the roof from downstairs.. I do spend many hoursasleep there...day or night my favored napping spot..
PV...well thanks..it is better in person... why not bop over this weekend... I'll send you a D-Mail with particulars..
Revclaus yes..thanks.. I remember you from there also... I bet you get a good bit of wind... not to mention a bunch of cold in the winter up there.. at the 6th floor level.. everything in the planters must freeze pretty solid ... hotter in the summer and colder in the winter .. I figure I'm in Zone 4-14.. rom the air effect.. on raised and exposed planters.. good work there...

Gordon - what a lovely garden. You've done a great job with your roof-top or sky garden. I love the view you have of the city skyline. It must be so neat to sit up there above the hustle and bustle and be in your own little world. Eleanor

Oooooooo tropicals.... high on my fav list... love the color contrast and that delphinium is just striking! Any racoon issues this year, Gordon?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

But, G, do you replant the D. every year (as they say you ought)? Do you stake it? How do you fertilize?

That would be cool, a Long Island Round-Up. Although I am aware that L.I. is not as little as it looks on the maps. I had to visit there several times, for my husband's mother's funeral, father's funeral, and a graduation party for someone.

x, C
