Yes, cutting off a tip will produce branching, but branching occurs naturally when a plumie blooms so that is the preferred method. If you cut off a tip to produce branches, chances are very good that you will not see blooms on those branches that year because it takes time to push out and produce new branches -- usually a whole growing season. Things like black tip, freeze damage, and insect damage to the growing tip will also produce new branches.

Scraping a few top leaf scars and applying GA-3 can also induce branching.

Malestrom, how do you use your GA3? Do you buy it premixed or do you mix it yourself?

If you make it yourself, would you mind telling me what you use?

I have heard of dissolving the GA3 in acetone and mixing it with lanoline. I tried that, but I can't say that I noticed any appreciable difference in the number of branches or time it took them to push out.

I dissolve the tablet or scrapings of it in alcohol and then mix it into lanolin or vitamin e cream.
I spread it liberally where I want growth.
There are many applications for it.

what is ga3? where can i pick it up?

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

I advise reading and studying it a lot before you even consider buying it.
Uneducated use could very likely produce disasterous results including death of the plant.

yeah thats why i asked and will be reading up on it
