Show me your red semi-mini violets

I would like to see your favorites or best growers or both. Thanks in advance.

they have 'no names' and thank you!!!!!

Hi Lacewing! I have Lucky Ladybug, but naturally, it has never bloomed for me. Should be a beauty if it ever does! :o) Here's the AVSA picture of it. http://www.avsa.org/Photographs/LuckyLadyBugLrg.jpg#http://../Photographs/LuckyLadyBugLrg.jpg#

I also have Red Bandito. Again, no blooms, but here's a picture from AVSA. http://www.avsa.org/Photographs/RedBanditoLrg.jpg#http://../Photographs/RedBanditoLrg.jpg#

I noticed that one of those pictures was taken by Marjorie Bullard............she is our local president of the AV society in Corpus Christi..............nice lady...........and very active state and nationally.

Thanks RainGazer, those are nice ones too. Too bad your Lucky Ladybug hasn't bloomed for you. Sometimes they get stubborn.

'Rob's Love Bite' is one of my favorites... gorgeous little dark red double blooms like little roses that really show off against the crown variegation.... it also seems to grow with a nice, symmetrical habit, so it's cute when it's not blooming too.

someone has a new baby plant...........my little new ones are blooming away.........love Rob's plants

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Sorry to say, that's not a new baby plant, just an old photo!

I'm a big fan of both Rob's and Pittman's minis...

and a friend of mine has a 'Mac's Stop Sign' that is just striking! It's very red, with a white edge, on a semi-mini plant with wonderful clean-bright variegated foliage! I found this photo from the Violet Gallery, but it doesn't really do justice to the plant. http://www.violetgallery.com/html%20pics/minis/macsstopsign.html

Oh, really nice! Thanks critterologist. That one of Robs' is exactly the shade of red I had in mind.

I know cameras don't always do a good job capturing colors, but that photo matches my memory of the bloom very well... it is a nice, deep red, almost a cranberry color, reminds me of that Victorian Christmas red shade.

This past spring, a local nursery in CC got in these big orders of mini and semi 2" avs..........i grabbed up as many as I could because I knew they weren't ordinary avs...............i called the owner of the nursery to ask him if he could find out the source of the avs.............he called the broker and the broker said they all came from Optimara............so they had a name at one time before Optimara quit labeling plants..............
She started blooming a couple of days ago...........a beautiful red...............if you grow from leaf i will be happy to send you all three of my red minis and semis..................

**I could have kept these in a 21/2" pot like the minis but i put them in 3" pots.............

Oh Gail, wish I had known .... I could have spared a leaf or two from this one! I bought this from Bluebird Greenhouse last fall and I love it!
