This is one of the arches to our strolling flower garden. It is 8 feet high and about 3 feet in depth. Path is about 4 feet wide. I planted 5 Hyacinth Beans on each side of the arch in April.
This is a very cool fast growing plant. I had never heard of it until my neighbor gave me the seeds.

Hyacinth Bean Beauty
You are right, they are fast growers, and your arch is really beautiful, Congratulations on a job well done.
Josephine.
I love your arch and the Hyacinth vine is perfect there. I've run out of room, but would like to incorporate more vines. I currently have the Mexican Flame Vine and it's lush, but no blooms. Coral vine, bleeding heart and mandevilla are my only other vines, but your pic has convinced me to find a spot for this one. It's beautiful!
Hyacinth Bean Vine is my all time favorite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You were so smart to plant five to cover your arbor.........fantastic looking..........thanks for reminding me how much i love this plant
That is gorgeous! I love it!
Is it this one? - http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/890/
Does anybody know if it self-seeds, or do you have to replant every year?
That is it.......................it does self seed but not where you want it (LOL)..........the seeds are bigger than a red bean (that we eat)............so easy to sow early and get them started where you want them..............
Morganc - you should post that picture in the PlantFiles for this vine. It's a really good shot of the whole vine. Most of the others are partial shots or close ups.
good idea!!!!!!!!!!
Your arch and vine are stunning! I had the vine on two trellises last year. I was sure they would go to seed and come back this year but did not. I was very sad.
Thank you all for your most beautiful comments.
digigirl - Yes, that's the one!
Frostweed - The plant deserves all the credit, we just put the seed in the ground.
I'll check out "plant files".

My cousin in Houston always had it on her fence on a big lot in Bellaire............she reached the point where she would dig it up completely every winter as she didn't want it coming back (in our mild climate from seeds) in the middle of her flower beds........only up against the fence where she could train it and keep it............
