Does anyone have a cat with horned paws?

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

I noticed that Mouse our three year old cat had what I thought at first to be callouses on her front paws.
Then I noticed when I would clip her claws that these appeared to be getting longer. When I clipped them because I thought they were bothering her, some appeared to be curved like claws.
When she was in for her annual check-up I asked the Vet about this. She said that they had just been learning about those that week. She was as enlightened as I was about them. They can be clipped as regular claws as they have no quick. Just don't clip too closely as then you will nip into the paw itself, which I had done once and it bled.
I have to be careful to clip these as often as they get in her way which is more often than regular toe nail clipping.
Hers grow upward into the pad and can be quite painful. They can be removed if they become a problem, which I am debating having done if that happens. We also adopted her brpther at the same time and he doesn't have any sign of it.
At first I thought I was imagining they were getting long like the nails. Just thought I would ask if anyone had a cat like this and their experience with dealing with them.
I found this on a google search.
