29 day's up in the incubator nothing happening

Manchester, United Kingdom

I have had some call duck eggs in my incubator for 29 day's so i guess they are due to hatch any time.

I have followed the correct way's and if i candle the egg i can see the duck trying to break the membrane but there is no sign of pipping.

I stopped turning 4 days ago and increased the humidity and dropped the temp by a couple of deg's.

What should i do?

I really don't know anything about ducks, or their eggs, but I did find this site. it should answer all of your question/s on them.....

Scroll down a bit - http://www.callducks.net/problems.htm

I've only hatched ducks once. I know the humidity is very important and is very high. When you hold an egg to your ear do you hear any sounds ?? Clicking on the shell, chirp noises ?? If you see movement at this stage they are alive and trying. Waiting is the hard part.

I typically will leave eggs in the bator 3 days after the due date in case they are slow developing.

Good luck !!!

Your temerature may have something to do with the unpipped eggs
If your temps are 1 degree off it takes an extra day
2 degrees = 2 days late

I always had trouble with the temps till I got the thermometer I have

I once put 5 thermometers in there and got 5 different temps

I would mist the eggs and hope for the best

Thanks for that.

No signs yet though i think hope is fadeing and time is running out.

Aaaaawwwww thats a bummer. I know I have read call ducks are one of the most difficult to hatch with decent success rates.

I would try to decide where you might have gone wrong...temp, humidity, fertility and definitely try again. Incubating can be daunting under the best of circumstances and a lot can go wrong. The secret is not to give up.

why did you drop the temp?

Northern Michigan, MI(Zone 5a)

I know when I did my ducks I had to drop the temp and increase humidity at the very end of incubation, in fact the breeder who sent the eggs made a special note about it. I never asked why though...

I've never incubated duck eggs,I let the ducks hatch their own
I never dropped the temp with the chickens eggs

I'm not saying its wrong
I'm just one of those people who always want to know why.....

just curious why...
Seems like at the end the moms don't really get off the
eggs at all so how would the temperature drop

I know the chicks generate more heat before hatching......

I got all my information from this website.

I thought we were going to have some luck but no signs of movement now either.

I am going to try again though.

If anyone has any tip's before i start or any usefull links i would be very gratefull.

Thanks all for your help.

Chris.
