Prefer tall beardeds. I really love large flowers and heavily ruffled are great too. I'm making a bunch of new purchases this year since I don't have named varieties yet. Anyone getting iris from me will be getting iris from any of the following places (Iris Greens, Hanks Iris (weegy), or a co-op from American Meadows or the co-op here.

I like vivid/bold color blends, saturated blues and if anyone has Earthborn...well, it's my HG of iris. The photos posted here make me want to PM everyone who took one and ask if they have any divisions they could spare:LOL: Really anything is great...Haven't met an iris I didn't like=)

i don't dislike anything, I'd love anything that is big, bold and juicy looking. i'm not picky though.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I'm the same way. Dark & dramatic! Or lots of two-tone contrast.
Not into pink or pastels.

My secret trade's irises are a mystery even to me yet, since I'll have to go buy named ones! (One for me, one for her; one for ME, one for her ...)

Greenwich, OH

I like red and pink irises.Tall bearded or historical irises.Already have plenty of Indian chief and yellows.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

Updated to say/admit--I just ordered Earthborn from Wild Iris Rows. Well, not just that but ya know?! I'm afraid to tally up my plant purchases this year:LOL: I've bumped into a few of ya'lls names in the want/wishlists area ;)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Janet what are your preferences ?

as for me: I have too many yellows, whites, pinks and purples

I like tall beardeds.......plicatas, bi-tones, true blues, lavenders, bright orange, wines, mostly moderns lacey and ruffled...but I never saw an iris I didn't like

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oops, Like you, I have never seen an Iris I didn't love! I really would love to have a nice Yellow, I don't have one of those. I like the Plicatas, bi-tones too. I love the old ones as well as the mdern fancy ones. Mostly love the ones that have loads of blooms and multiply well...especially fond of rebloomers, I have one blooming now...let me post a picture...this is blooming today...I have never had Iris blooming this time of year!

For anyone who happens to acquire my name in the trade, check out my garden journal here at daves to get a feel for what I have. Mostly I choose based on names for my tall bearded irises. I have smaller themed gardens within my larger garden. I have the Dykes winners, broken colors, Hanky Panky (anything related to or suggested intimacy heh heh), Music and Theatre, Fine Dining (food, snacks, drinks, etc), Western, Civil War, Weather, Royalty, Sci Fi, and a miscellaneous bed for everything else.

Also, I have irises from 1800's to 2000's so time frame doesn't really matter. Unique and hard to find are nice to have. Would prefer 4 different varieties but it's really about the fun of the trading as long as the plants are healthy and happy.

I'd love to broaden my blues palette in iris. I have Superstition, and any icy-pale blue or medium blue where the blossom is one color would be much appreciated - fragrance a huge bonus.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

After all, your name is not greenspiral now, is it?!

(Zone 7a)

Now there's a thought, Summer - within a couple weeks of each other in September 2003, I discovered DG and the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day website, and hurricane Isabel gave us a memorable night.

Following the links on http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap030925.html , I discovered that the mathematics of Isabel's spiral curve were repeated throughout many natural phenomena like snail shells in our gardens or seed patterns in sunflowers or starry galaxies, etc.

That "dark and stormy night" was pretty fresh in my mind when I was trying to think up a DG moniker - but I gotta say - imagining a greenspiral in that context ain't the warmest, fuzziest notion for a gardener lol

blue, i will have to look up all those fascinating-sounding links & phenomena.

as for my secret bearded santa, i usually plant in 3s, so i'd be happy with 4 of a kind or 4 of a variety ... so ... totally ... flexible ...

I will be happy with either four of the same or a variety as well...whatever works for the sender!

Nashville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi-

I would prefer four different ones, but will be happy with any, as long as you're sure it's correctly named.

I could use a good orange, along the lines of Orange Slices, but really don't need any yellows. I'm not partial to pinks, so only have a few of those, so if you have a pretty pink that would be fine. Any age will be fine, from historics to newer ones.

I love purples, and BRIGHT grab you eye sight from way across the yard colors.

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

My preferences:
I would love SDB's, IB's, TB's and BB's and MTB's. I like intense colors, like intense blue, intense purple. I like bicolors and broken colors but already have Batik and Millenium Falcon. I already have lots of orange irises so don't really need any more. I especially like deep pinkish purple. I like irises that are mixed colors all in one iris as well. I love ruffles and frills.
I am not big on historic iris but if that is all you have, give me the most colorful ones.
Oh yes, I am interested in Arils and Siberians as well.
Really I will enjoy just about anything.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

DMac,
It's a good thing that you ordered Earthborn. I have it and love it, but it doesn't increase much for me so I never have enough to trade. After several years I have only 2 or 3 rhizomes, but it really is a beauty. I hope it is more vigorous for you.
Betty

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Betty, for us novices, could you please define the abbreviations? I assume TB is tall bearded but that is ALL that I can figure out:

SDB's, IB's, TB's and BB's and MTB's

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Sure, I would be pleased to. Let's hope I get it right.

Actually I just copied this from Rainbow Iris Farm's web site. See the original at:
http://iris.stores.yahoo.net/aboutiris.html

TALL BEARDED [TB] - over 27.5" bloom stalks, late bloom season
BORDER BEARDED [BB] - 16 to 27.5" bloom stalks, late bloom season
MINIATURE TALL BEARDED [MTB]- 16 to 27.5" bloom stalks, mid-late season
INTERMEDIATE BEARDED [IB] - 16 to 27.5" bloom stalks, early bloom season
STANDARD DWARF BEARDED [SDB] 8 to 16" bloom stalks, early season
MINIATURE DWARF BEARDED [MDB] up to 8" bloom stalks,

Most of us start with Tall Bearded (TB) and many of us never get any farther, but I thought it was time for me to try some of the smaller iris, now. I especially like the SDB's because they bloom much earlier than the other irises.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I think I'd better go order some iris from the Rainbow Farm ... just to be SURE I've got my Secret Squirrel covered ...

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)
