I have one of those glass cookie jar type things which I first of all grew a fittonia in until it got too big, now it has a selaginella in a pot.
I'd like to try branching out to permanently placed plants (ie in compost). I have a 10 gallon fish tank that is not being used, and would like to use that to grow humidity loving plants. Should I use the light? Leave the gravel?
Would a jewel orchid be a good choice?
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
Sue
Turning a fishtank into a terrarium
Hi Sue..
I used my old aquarium...took out and rinsed the gravel good, then put it back in, kept the light cause it was a grow light since I had real plants with the fish. Emptied out some old charcoal filters on top of that, then some sphagnum, then the soil.I grow many things in there, AV's, episcias, ivy's love it, a prayer plant...the possibilities are endless.
