I'm looking for a unbreakable version of the strawberry pot so many of you have shown wonderful plantings with. Clay is not an option with a 4 yr old around so if I could get plastic that would be great.
I've checked my local Wal-Marts, and Home Depot. Any one know if they even exist?
Thanks!
Plastic Strawberry pots...
Our walmart had them this spring in 2 sizes all planted with succulents, but I haven't seen them lately.

Here is a guy who made his own http://radio.weblogs.com/0128644/2006/02/06.html
Here is a container the kid can't get too>
I have two of these, for my herbs. I can't remember where I bought them, and grabbed the first site that came up, when searching for "mayan planter". I paid less than the price shown, IIRC. It would make a fine strawberry jar, IMO.

ahhhh.... Ya know that a fully pot strawberry jar is very very heavy. I don't think you 4 year old would be able to move or tip it over.. I usually need my DH to move it for me since it's so heavy.. And I highly doubt your child is stronger than I am.. I'm ex-military but still in very good shape.. Still to heavy for me.
hostamomma - Is this the type of container you are talking about? This container is two pieces, one on top of the other. Unfortunately I got it at a local nursery. You might be able to find it online. But as Icosden said a clay strawberry jar when filled is quite heavy and these plastic containers are very light. Eleanor
grammyphoeb, did you know those where used primarily for hydroponic gardening before.. It's used for other things now too..
Actually, Grannypheob, that is very close to what I'm looking for.
I need plastic for two reasons.
1. I want to plant up various tender succulents and be able to move them in and out of the greenhouse during the winter (we are Zone 5a here)
2. While said pot is in greenhouse (close quarters) it is very likely to be bumped into by my daughter who goes out there with me constantly. I have a crushed gravel floor so it's not exactly dead on even.
I actually had a small strawberry jar (6 holes) that got knocked off the deck and was broken. If anyone knows where I can get something similar to what Granny pheob has please let me know!!!
Check for some hydroponic places.. Mine came in a hydroponic set..
I've seen these for sale at flower shows. Of course you'd have to wait until next year.
