T Swallowtail

Sure is late for these this year. Drought must be the reason. Just found cats of Gulf F. on my passion vine.. they were much earlier last year.

EFG--very pretty ST shot.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but is that a Passion Flower?

Thanks. t.

No such thing as ignorance when it comes to flowers, butterflies, bugs,,,, this is a Sweetheart Dahlia. Very small flowers look like a daisy actually. Have had to fight the Japanese Beetles on it.

P.S. I do have Passion Flower and it is covered with cats of Gulf Frittalarias..

Nice pic of the Tiger St.. It is a male... The flower is really beautiful. Congrats on the Gfrits!! What kind of Passionvine did you wind up with?

Deb,
I have just the common purple one that I got seeds from in Florida. It could be invasive.., but I just use the weed eater..LOL Need to take pic..

Hi there, Elaine. Nice picture. : ) That dahlia stem is neat in the picture. Zigzag. : )
I haven't heard from your mom lately. Is she at the beach?

I could wish my Passionvine was more invasive than it is so far. I had a pretty thick bunch of Blue Crown in March , about 8+ ft x 6ft. The frits have already chewed it down, and it's just now growing back some.. patchy, but some.. If I were you I wouldn't cut it, the frits that will come might need all of that. Just wait til the frits hit this late summer and fall.. you might need it. I am one who likes the host plants to be invasive..:-)

Well,, will take a picture of my passion vine tomorrow.. I let it cover my chimnea.(sp?). Last year it hardly survived because of the gulf f. eating it up, but this year it is growing like crazy... maybe the drought had something to do with it. I even have some big seed pods.. I transplanted some to back woods area.
Lucy, yes,, Mom is on the island again... sigh... fishin' without me. She sure is a busy woman to be almost 80..Thanks for asking.

Hi Elaine!
PV is a wonderful climber. Yours looks great on the chimnea! Looks like it will feed about a dozen or maybe 2 dozen from here. How many did you end up having last year?
Nice going!
