please help!!!!!

i plated 2 rhodies about 3 years ago since they never bloomed!! this year one had just 1 single flower. the leaves under the new growth look very yellow & brown. they are also falling! i don't know what to do. should i fertilize? if so what & how. last year i took off what looked like brown unbloomed buds was this bad? my neibors have some and there doing fine. my soil is sandy loam could this be a problem? any addvice would be awsome. thankz

What was the flower colour?
How big (average) are the leaves?
Is the growth habit upright or more vase-shaped?
Plain green on the leaf backside, or brown fuzzy?

Katye, well the flowers are white,the leaves are typiclly 3,4 inches, the new growth is upright, and the leaf is plain green on the back side. in fact this is the first year of any new growth. the pic is not that good , i only have a cell phone to take them, sorry.

No problem about the picture - I can see enough to get an idea.
The reason I asked is that it looks strikingly similar to one I have - upright, plain green on backside, with a flower colour I would describe as a very pale blush bordering on peach, but not "white". The name of it is Alison Johnston.
If you go to Rhododendrens.com, you can type in the name & see if it looks like the one you have.

Rhodies need water too, even though I shamefully ignore mine much of the time. Do you have it watered regularly and protected with a little mulch over the roots? I have used Miracid per package directions and then a good watering in to take care of any discolored leaves on the rhodies. Can't hurt to try. If you drink coffee, try throwing your used/brewed grounds around the rhodies too.

That's a pretty good photo for a cell phone. No leaf chewing damage on those leaves, so that's good. Good luck with your rhodies!
