Any idea on cultivar?

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

I "rescued" this plumeria from our local Home Depot yesterday. They had quite a large selection of larger plumies, but the majority either looked like death would soon claim them, or their inflos were broken and mangled. Always doing my part to find nice plants a good home, I brought this baby home with me. I believe I've read that HD sells plumerias from C-Star nursery (or ?), but I didn't find them when I googled.

Any idea of which cultivar this is so I can put a tag on my new little friend? Here's an upclose of the bloom.

Thanks :-)

It looks a little bit like C-Stars 'Cancun Dreams,' but it is very difficult to match a cultivar name to a picture without comparing all the characteristics of the plant as Michael said. Since the name isn't known, it shouldn't be sold or traded as a named plumeria.

I know C-Stars supplies the Home Depot's in Southern California, but I think there might be a different supplier in Northern California. It doesn't surprise me what you said about some of the plumerias looking like death if C-Stars was the supplier. Their greenhouses are extraordinary hot so they use a mix which stays wet, and some of their cuttings rot in their greenhouses because of this. When they get watered daily by Home Depot in not so hot conditions, they rot as well. I've seen many a sad-looking Home Depot plumie from C-Stars. They really ought to change their mix. I too have rescued a few;-)

That's a lovely container. I hope it isn't too heavy to bring inside for the winter;-) Here's my 'Cancun Dreams' for comparison.

Hmmm, your Cancun looks more pink, mine has a definite burgandy tint. Here's a pic of the one leaf that is on it so far (poor little thing), and as for the scent, I couldn't really smell anything. Thought maybe it was just me since I'm stuffy, but my DD said she couldn't detect a scent either.

The potting mix was mostly sandy vocanic rock, with a small bit of soil, and it actually drained fairly well when I watered it before planting. I did change the mix when I put it into my pot though.

Thanks for the container compliment - I think it's cool too :-)

'Cancun Dreams' has a very strong spicy fragrance so yours is something different that I don't recognize as being a named cultivar. It is pretty though!

I took a new picture of the bloom that just opened, compared to the one that was open previously. Now when this flower first opened, it did have a citrusy scent, but it wasn't strong and it was gone by the second day of the bloom. It's been about 100 here everyday, does that matter?
